Sunny Sunday

NEUTRONS DETECTED IN THE STRATOSPHERE: On Dec. 8th, using a suborbital helium balloon, the students of Earth to Sky Calculus launched new type of Space Weather Buoy to the stratosphere. Unlike previous buoys, which measured only X-rays and gamma-rays, Space Weather Buoy 2.0 is also sensitive to neutrons. This just in: The flight was a success. To learn about the results, scroll past this photo taken by an onboard camera as the sun was setting at 95,700 feet.

The payload was recovered intact from its landing site near the Eureka Dunes of Death Valley National Park. The neutron sensor returned full of data. Students are still working the numbers, and complete results are not ready to be shared. However, we can say this much now: An abundance of neutrons were detected during the 2 hour flight. Peak rates reached 240 neutrons per minute, compared to ~0 neutrons per minute at ground level.

The area around the Earth keeping opposite charges apart, it can be stretched and weakened with the addition of moisture close to one of the ‘conductors’ causing lightning and accompanying spike upward, a very temporary connection, static electricity on a Global scale generated by the rotation of the Earth stuffed full of magnetism being streamed with Solar radiation keeping the outside charged and the Earth safe within this invisible shell, the Neutrons keeping the power separate for the most part, lightning reminds us it’s there.

    Sunny here.

Made it through the day without going anywhere, 48 tops outside, unfit for human existence, at least this human anyway, does not deter the loud-ass diesel pickups, plenty roaring past to buy a can of chew at the store, R-E-D-N-E-C-K = Reactionary-Excessivly-Dumb-No-Education-Careless-Kooks.

Doc, Wii is a game machine, a game console. Made by Sony, I think. We have sports games for it. It’s fun because you don’t just use a controller, you USE a controller. Bowling, you have to stand up with the controller in your hand and do with your arm and hand what you would do with a real bowling ball. The controller has a strap on it to secure to your wrist so one doesn’t accidentally let go of the controller while swinging a sword, or ping pong paddle and toss it at the TV.

Went out for my walk because the temp was 47┬░ at 9:00 p.m. No wind, I didn’t even need a hat or gloves. I did put my hat on after about a half hour, since I got scalped at the barber shop the other day.
