Sunday Sioux

On February 27, 1973, some 250 Sioux Indians led by members of the American Indian Movement converged on South Dakota’s Pine Ridge Reservation, launching the famous 71-day occupation of Wounded Knee.

“In a way, it was a very beautiful experience,” said Len Foster, a Navajo man who joined AIM in 1970 and was at Wounded Knee for the entire 71 days. “It was a time to look at the commitment we made and a willingness to put our lives on the line for a cause.”

We present these images to remember that movement and those who stand up for Native rights—then and now.

Thank Gawd Carly Fiorina has joined the clown show. We need more demon sheep in our politics.

  2. David B. Benson says:

But “native” is the wrong word. It just means born in this place. Everybody @ DWF is a native.

    Sunny Sunday here.

Sunny here, too, and it got up to 28°. Woo hoo! Maybe we’ll reach the reported 40° by Tuesday after all. I just may go out for a walk tonight.

Over 25 minutes of stick walking brought me to Tam’s Place for, as it turns out, the last day. The Shermers are retiring and the space will become Zoes International, an inferior food establishment which had lost a next to campus lease.

I have never seen Tam’s Place so crowded.

Wow, MediaBuzz on Fox completely ignored the Bill O’Reilly story. The fuck, Howie?

  7. Den says:

Oh crap I’m tired, Sunday a day of rest, not @ DWF! Installed a new entrance door to replace the POS that was there, carpeted the kitchen with 18″ square pieces, did laundry, put away.

2 Stone IPA’s soothing me right now, steak up later.

Too bad you are losing a good eatery Doc, Corpo-Food sux!

  8. Den says:

    Demon sheep, heh, heh.

  9. Den says:

How about a video of some neat machines?

  10. Den says:

Time for the dream world to make itself known, no sheep counting needed.
