Monday Python

The five surviving members of the famed British comedy troupe Monty Python – Michael Palin, John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam – do not get along. On stage at the Beacon Theater on Friday night, two members walked off in the middle of a discussion. Others rearranged chairs so as not to have to face one another or the audience, while host John Oliver struggled to keep control of men who, he said, “always had a fundamental disrespect for authority”.

Or, at least, the Pythons suggested that such would be the story if the Daily Mail wrote it up.

“The British press write this stuff about everyone, not just about us,” Cleese told reporters on Friday before the 40th anniversary screening of The Holy Grail at the Tribeca Film Festival and a slightly madcap panel discussion that left the audience and Oliver in stitches.

“I think it’s because something like the Daily Mail, which is my pet hate, operates on trying to make people anxious and slightly depressed because that’s how they sell more copy.”

He concluded: “They don’t want people to be happy, and we made a lot of people [happy] and they made us happy.”

“So you can see that we hate the Daily Mail slightly more than we hate each other,” added Palin.

Weather still cool. Didn’t do anything outside except go for my dusk walk a little after 8:00 p.m.

Today, had to cook for Quincy, prepare the beef for the Machaca meat for Jill’s enchiladas. Just have to remember to take the crock pot out of the fridge, put it in it’s base and plug it in. I’ve only ever forgot to do that once. The beef takes 10 hours to cook on low. If I forget???? Well, I solved that problem that time by putting the crock pot on high for 5 hours.

Pete is dropping Nicholas off at pre-school tomorrow because he doesn’t have to work and he’ll come over here for the day . Pete texted me today that he had a doctor’s appointment and was put on blood pressure pills. NOOOO! He said his doctor said his pressure was borderline so she put him on the lowest dose of some drug. What is it with blood pressure. Seems the minute anyone goes to a doctor for a check-up, they are told their blood pressure is high. They fooled me for awhile then I quit taking the pills. My pressure is always the same 140/something. I haven’t dropped dead yet.

You are at about twice the risk of a stroke than at 120/whatever. I take my low dose BP pill whenever my daily reading goes over 123/–.

Two Lisinopril and one Amlodipine a day for me. Before being put on them a few years back, my BP checked out really awful, 170 over something. The other day it was 113 over 79, or there abouts. No side effects, I still have way too much energy, which is where the Ambien comes in at night 🙂
