Sunny Spot Sunday

BIG SUNSPOT FACES EARTH: The rapid growth of sunspot AR2396 is continuing. Yesterday it was huge. Today it is 50% larger. Astrophotographer “Yvan” sends this picture from Berlare, Belgium:

The growing sunspot group stretches more than 150,000 km from end to end. All by itself, the primary dark core is more than three times the size of Earth. These dimensions make AR2390 an easy target for backyard solar telescopes.

Of even greater interest is the sunspot’s ‘beta-gamma’ magnetic field, which is invisible to the human eye but nevertheless harbors energy for powerful explosions. NOAA forecasters estimate a 40% to 55% chance of M-class flares this weekend. Any such explosion will surely be geoeffective as the sunspot is directly facing Earth. Solar flare alerts: text or voice.

Not going to watch that one. It’s the kind where the Adobe box pops up in the center and the video won’t play until I decide “allow” or “deny.” Click “deny” and 99% of the time it won’t go away. I think they want to plant something on my computer and I won’t let them.

Hopefully, Flashplayer will go away and something better will takes it’s place.

Late this morning, drover over to Jill’s and Jill, Brian and I went to see “Ant-Man.” On our way home we went to Los Tres Amigos in Mason. Yeah, had to have a Margarita. Actually, we had to have 2 Margaritas. They made them strong this time.

Jill paid for it. She bought her mom dinner! Yesterday, on our way home from grandpa’s party we stopped in Howell where Brian lives so he could pick up some tools he needed, then we went to a tavern on the main drag and sat outside and had two “Bubbles ‘n Berries.” But there was only one raspberry in the drink, and the bubbles? They are made with a chip of dry ice in it they were out so I didn’t get to enjoy the entire concept of “Bubbles ‘n Berries.” Brian paid for that, I was able to skate yesterday, too. The drinks were $10 each, so that was $60 for six drinks. Yikes!

Bob didn’t go to the party yesterday, or to the show today. He just feels so lousy he doesn’t want to try to get out to the car, into the show, etc. Brian bought him a dinner yesterday. He ate half yesterday, and the rest of it today.

I better not eat a thing the rest of the week. If I don’t have a heart attack the next couple days, it will be a miracle what with all the meat I ate the last two days. At grandpa’s party, LOTS of meat and it was soooooooooo good. Ribs, pulled pork, some kind of beef, chicken (didn’t bother with the chicken) meatballs and the REAL killer, little sausages wrapped in bacon. A pan of them, ugh, they sit in grease from the bacon. But my goodness, they had them at 3 of the last grandpa parties. Someone said I should make them when I said how much I loved them, but no way. They’re so good, for sure they’ll kill ya, lol.

Now it’s back to normal. On tonight’s walk I’ll have to think about the upcoming week and what to cook. 😦
