Go Back to Sleep, it’s Monday

1a

A few years ago, I carried out a large-scale survey examining the lifestyles of people who sleep well and wake up feeling refreshed. The results revealed that the secret of a great night’s sleep is surprisingly simple, and comes down to the following 12 techniques.

1 Avoid the blues
When your eyes are exposed to light, your brain produces less of the sleep-inducing hormone melatonin. Light towards the blue end of the spectrum is especially stimulating and, unfortunately, computer screens, tablets, smartphones and LED lighting all emit a lot of blue light. Try not to use these devices in the two hours before you go to bed. If you must use them, turn down the brightness or wear amber-tinted glasses designed to block blue light.

2 Tub time
There’s a decrease in your body temperature just before you fall asleep. Taking a bath or shower artificially raises your body temperature, but when you climb out of the tub or shower, this temperature abruptly drops and sends a signal to your body that you are ready for sleep. Take a bath or shower immediately before you head to bed.

3 Steer clear of the nightcap
Although a small amount of alcohol might help you get to sleep more quickly, it also gives you a more disturbed night, increases the chances of snoring and disrupts dreaming. Don’t drink alcohol in the hours before bed.

Sleep is a precious thing, I need more.

It seems that while taking Prednisone years back and riding my bike back and forth to work 60K miles, masked the damage I was doing to my shoulders riding.

Now I cannot sleep on my side or stomach without rousing considerable pain in my shoulders waking me up every hour or two.

Another BIG Pharma slap in the shoulder this time as the Pain Train rolls on.

Yup, it takes two arms to ride a motorcycle. They might get better with use, not sure.

If I consider riding the bike a form of exercise, it’s supposed to be a good thing. Arms toughen up, get stronger…then you age and now it was a bad thing to ride the bike, get that arm exercise in. A human just can’t win.

Same route as the previous 2 days but in just 43 minutes. Maybe faster due to shorter sticks.

No birds but a little bit of ice pellets.

    Day 2: 45+43=88 minutes.

And for dessert a piece of fruits of the forests pie. But being still unfull I then went back for a piece of chocolate cake. I was served a double portion, so I ended up having 3 deserts.

      Full now.

Everything melted now. Just some white stuff in shady places, but I walked everywhere this evening and mud wasn’t an issue. So, all melted AND sunk into the earth.

I went over twice to Jill’s to check on Journey. She was confined to a bedroom, crate for coziness, doggie mattress on the floor. Nothing was a miss when I got there both time, no accidents, nothing chewed up. I took her for two walks, spending maybe 40 minutes with her in the house. Loved petting and scratching her, and she was so lovable. I walked her around Jill’s circle driveway, around the little woods. She peed and pooped both times. What a good girl, she didn’t do it in the house.

*sigh* Would love to keep her, give her a good home for the rest of her days. But…. 😦
