Toot Up Tuesday

1a(NaturalNews) In a recent appearance on All In with Chris Hayes on MSNBC, drug abuse and addiction expert Carl Hart of Columbia University made a shocking claim: There isn’t much difference between the demonized street drug methamphetamine (also known as meth or crystal meth) and the prescription drug Adderall.

It’s not the first time Hart has raised this idea. In a 2014 report, Hart and co-authors Joanne Csete and Don Habibi, also from Columbia, examined in depth the effects of meth on the brain, concluding that there is no discernible difference in the effects of any amphetamine, whether prescription or illicit.

FDA says meth OK for ADHD, weight loss

First, some definitions: Amphetamines are a class of chemicals that are used both medically and recreationally. The street drug known as “meth” may refer to either methamphetamine or dextroamphetamine. “Crystal meth” is a more specific form, methamphetamine hydrochloride.

The authors of the report note that both popular and scientific literature regularly make meth out to be much stronger and more addictive than other amphetamines.

“Such statements, however, are inconsistent with the empirical evidence,” they wrote. ” In carefully controlled laboratory studies of human research participants, [dextroamphetamine] and methamphetamine produce nearly identical physiological and behavioral effects…. They both increase blood pressure, pulse, euphoria, and desire to take the drug in a dose-dependent manner. Essentially, they are the same drug.”

As a former Adderall user I can attest to it’s value in focusing me on task and allowing me to accomplish the ordinary in record time, awesome stuff for getting projects done. But one must treat it with respect and fight the addiction right from the start, use it for a weekend move, then put it away for another day, it’s easy to like the stuff, not good for heart conditions in us old duffers anymore.
Sure could get stuff done…

North and back again in a respectable 44 minutes. Again no wildlife observed.

Day 3: 117+44=161 minutes; already over the desired weekly minimum.

Not much difference between Ritalin and Preludin, the ADHD drugs, and meth, either.

My daughter-in-law’s twin sister unfriended me on Facebook. Jill, too. She already isn’t FB friends with her twin, or Pete.

She wrote a mean thing about Pete & Sara and I casually mentioned it to Pete. Even though he didn’t want to read what she wrote, he texted Nancy and I guess told her he didn’t appreciate what she did. She apologized to Pete, even sent him flowers. Me? Me, she unfriended. Well, she does have “issues.” Mental things. In fact, the whole family is strange, lol. Of the twins Nancy is the worst. Oh, well. It’s her loss.

Time for my walk. Have to nuke Bob’s dinner plate for him first. The other half the dinner from the sushi place Sunday.

It’s supposed to keep warming up. Can’t wait for the snow to be gone. I’ve been staying near the house at night, too afraid I’ll fall again on the hidden ice. I need it ALL gone, then fresh stuff can fall. At least it won’t be hiding the dangerous ice.
