Floral Thursday

ROME – To traders at the famous Royal FloraHolland flower market near Amsterdam, Vincenzo Crupi was just another businessman helping to make the Netherlands the largest exporter of cut flowers in the world.

To the police, Crupi was a mafia suspect allegedly concealing drugs worth millions of dollars alongside fragrant bouquets he trucked to Italy. By last year they were hot on his scent. So they bugged his offices at the flower market.

In conversations recorded by hidden microphones and cameras, the 52-year-old Italian was heard speaking at length about mafia affairs, according to previously unpublished details of the investigation contained in 1,700 pages of Italian court documents reviewed by Reuters.

Crupi was heard allegedly discussing drug deals, arms shipments and a lethal power struggle between mafia members in Canada. “They are killing each other over there,” he said in one recorded telephone call after returning from a trip to Toronto.

Last September, at least two decades after Crupi began working at the flower market, police swooped while the Italian was on a trip home, arresting him in the dead of night south of Rome. Prosecutors will seek trials against Crupi later this year for drug trafficking and mafia membership, judicial sources said.

After reading all the bad side effects of Humira I cancelled the order at the pharmacy, that is some nasty stuff leading to side effects that are life threatening and unstoppable, including pneumonia, severe fungal infections and sepsis, nope not for this guy, Statins were bad enough, I don’t need more problems, yikes!

E-mailed the Doc who is all of maybe 30 years old, will see what he says now.

Took precisely 47 minutes to TVD and home, all in the cool sun. No wildlife observed.

Day 5: 283+47=330 minutes and my feet are ok.

Home from a fine concert by the all-university symphonic band and then the audition symphonic wind ensemble. The final piece had a percussion soloist!

Talked with Peggy during the intermission. She was clipped by a car 3 months ago and now is walking, flat land only. The tibia will improve.

Afterwards talked briefly with Abigail who, while just a sophomore, is the best of the student bassoonists. She’s planning to go to medical school! I informed her that my eldest daughter is a practicing MD. Then talked for a bit with Alice about her oboe concerto next year and also advised her to wait with circular breathing until graduate school.

Mentioned a few things to the band instructor but mostly congratulations for the fine concert.
