Piggy Parts Monday

Scientists trying to grow human organs inside pigs in an attempt to tackle a shortage of donors have successfully created part-human, part-pig embryos, it has been reported.

Researchers at the University of California, Davis combined human stem cells and pig DNA and allowed the embryos to mature for 28 days, before terminating the experiment and analysing the tissue.

They believe the animals, which if they had been carried to term would have developed a human internal organ, but would have looked and behaved like any other pig. The goal is that in the future, similar animals could potentially act as a ready source of organs for life-saving transplants.

To create the “chimeric” embryos, the scientists used a gene-editing technique known as Crispr to knock out a section of the pig’s DNA necessary for the embryo to develop a pancreas.

Human induced pluripotent (iPS) stem cells were then injected into the pig embryo. These are cells that have the potential to develop into any tissue type in the resulting foetus. Although genetically foreign, they are not rejected by the pig embryo because its immune system has not yet developed.

Weather Underground states it is 91 °F out. McDonald’s signage claims 95 °F. Clear and still with tomorrow expected to be the same.

I just spent all day trying to see why my upload is 500kbs, started to run a full scan for bugs and came back to find the computer screen saver stuck and no input keyboard or mouse.
Did a hard shutdown(holding down the power button down) and when it came back up the screen said “failure configuring windows updates, reverting changes, do not shut your computer off”.

Unfortunately I chose “Safe Mode” so it was running half speed, it ran for two hours, no input available once again. Finally I said fuck it and did another hard shut down, this time I clicked “start normally”, sure enough there it was again. the Redmond wizards were not going to let me have it back until they configured it correctly.

Well it was their stupid program that grenaded it in the first place!

Next computer will have a Linux/UNBUTU OS, I am fed up with stupid computer engineers that put patches on patches until nothing works right.
