The world’s first passenger drone capable of autonomously carrying a person in the air for 23 minutes has been given clearance for testing in Nevada.
Chinese firm Ehang, which unveiled the electric Ehang 184 passenger drone at CES in Las Vegas in January, has partnered with the Nevada Institute for Autonomous Systems (NIAS) and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (Goed) to put the drone through testing and regulatory approval.
Tom Wilczek, Goed’s aerospace and defence specialist said: “The State of Nevada, through NIAS, will help guide Ehang through the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) regulatory process with the ultimate goal of achieving safe flight.”
I want one, of course I don’t want to pay for it, but I still want one.
(As long as it includes a ballistic parachute.)

An ordinary parachute won’t do?

Got the suspected cancer bit checked and biopsied today, so no officially declared cancer situation as of yet.
Met an older guy there with his wife, I was wearing my GM 57 shirt with pics of 1957 General Motors cars. Well he immediately asked if there were any 56 or 58 cars, nope. So he proceeded to tell me about his past cars, a 56 Chevy convertible with the Continental Kit, (spare tire on the back bumper)((never did like those myself, too hard to get to the trunk)), he had a 58 too, that one with a 348 big block engine.
But I digress, he told me his car stories and his wife told of her $7K computerized sewing machine, then it was time to go in.
It’s neat meeting someone that had nice old cars and knows something about them to chat with, us old car nutz are a dying breed, literally.
Today’s cars are the product of a highly technical industry, computers, plastic, and hard to find buttons, old cars were metal form and fit with time-tested sturdy stuff. That time is dead already except for restorers and Classic Car clubs, just a few old duff’s to carry around the knowledge then it to will be gone.
Really great chatting it up tho, with a fellow motor-head.

A slow 48 minutes to the Birch & Barley for vegetable curry with shrimp and a glass of Reisling. Saw a rabbit crossing the Grand Street Greenway; first time to see one so far south.
I looked at an online listing of Washington state wildflowers. The orange one is California poppy. The ones I had always called daisies have another name. Still can’t find a name for the spectacular lavender and white ones nor the proper name for the blue corn flowers.
