Totalitarian Tuesday

AARP, the non-profit seniors organization that exists to promote the financial security, pensions and healthcare of those over 50, is secretly funding the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), an organization whose bills have acted against the interests of ordinary Americans, including retirees and their families.

The Center for Media and Democracy has learned that AARP has recently joined ALEC, and that it is a named sponsor of the ALEC annual meeting taking place in Indianapolis, Indiana from July 27-29, 2016.

AARP isn’t exactly hiding its new financial relationship with ALEC, at least to ALEC legislators. Its logo appears in the conference brochure (see here) and attendees at the conference were each provided with an AARP branded portable USB power pack as they registered for the event.

ALEC exists to help its corporate funders advance their lobbying agenda through pushing bills that ALEC peddles as national “model” legislation. As CMD has documented in numerous ways, ALEC is a pay-to-play operation.

Since CMD launched ALECexposed in 2011, more than 100 corporations have quit the group, with many echoing Eric Schmidt of Google who told NPR as his company quit ALEC: “I think the consensus within the company was that that was some sort of mistake and so we’re trying to not do that in the future.”

More comedy this AM from the Leader of the Bumpkins.

He has determined that Ole Hill is the Devil. (typical Republican projection)

You know, I sure am glad the Puggers selected the biggest ass-clown they could find to represent their more than disgusting policy’s all the while embracing the bumpkin demographic, and as a bonus, a slice of personal lunacy.

    Good job!

  2. Hi! I`m still alive, if anyone wonders! My wife and I have spent some time in Turkey, we have an apartment in the city of Alanya, which is located on the south coast of the country, the so called Turkish “riviera”. We have been staying there 2-3 months in the spring, and the same in the fall. But now, after the attemted coup, things are getting bad in Turkey. More than 60000 people have been laid off and approxemate 10000 arrested. President Erdogan is rushing towards dictatorship, and he is tightening the grip of the population. We are also following the election circus in the US, and a lot of Europeans are afraid that the Donald will become the next US President. Will try to follow the blog more frequntly from now.

Erling!!! Oh, my gosh…I’m always wondering about you and if you’re still out there somewhere, lol. Glad to see you ARE still out there somewhere, in Turkey? Sure glad I don’t live there. It’s ruler is getting religion, going to turn the place into another religious country full of ignorance and suffering. I used to think he was a decent guy but looks like I was wrong, he’s gone over to the ‘dark side.’

Donald Trump is NOT going to win! That’s what I keep telling myself. He’s one scary, ignorant egomaniac. Everything that spouts out of his mouth is crap, and I’m sick of seeing his face everywhere, his roundish mouth always open, his damn finger pointing in the air. I want to throw up when I see him.

Every day he comes up with more horrible things, certainly he can’t win. I’m counting on this country’s majority being smarter than we must look in the news. After all, Barack Obama won two times and THAT was a miracle.

Hope to see you around here again soon.

      • For the time being, I`m in Norway. We`re going to Turkey at the end of this month. Will try to sell our apartment, due to the way the country is heading. It will be a scary world with the turkish president Erdogan, Putin and Donald Trump. According to the news, Trump is loosing support due to his behavior yesterday towards the family who lost their son in Iraq, and calling Mrs. Clinton the “Devil”! Also, I`m concerned about the high amount of people being shot by the police, and the killing of police officers in your country. Yesterday, we learned that students in Texas carry arms at the universities. More weapons among people is not the right way to go. The difference between police education in Norwqy and the US, is that in Norway, police students attend a university-like education over three years, while in the US, it`s just a matter of weeks/months in Police Academies. Cheers!

Erling! Glad to know you are still with us my friend! Hugs and beers to ya!
Stay safe and keep us posted as you go, CHEERS!

    • Den, i`m glad to be back. Some european countries have been suffering from terror the last two years, especially France. More than one million refugees arrived in Europe last year, mostly Syrians. Among these migrants, some ISIS fighters also arrived in Europe. I`m afraid that we`ll see more terror attacks in Europe in the future, even in Norway.

      Day 3: 112+43=155 minutes.

Lovely sunset as the wind hade ceased by the time dinner was over.
