Self Play Wednesday

Underneath the Gowanus Expressway, in an area generously included in Sunset Park but really not much more than a detritus-strewn, completely forgotten, and rarely traversed stretch of 3rd Avenue, sit a curious collection of shops, glass windows and brick walls routinely rattled as 18-wheelers hurtle by just 10 feet above. Along on a stretch between 39th and 24th Streets, there are eight of these shops, a rate of nearly one per block. Sunset Video, Video City, Candy Hookah Love, Golden DVD—the names are different, but they’re all the same inside.

They’re sex shops, like the ones you could once find in Times Square. The kind that advertise private viewing booths for when the laptop is busted and the WiFi is out and the lock on your bedroom is broken and the bathroom is in use and your imagination is unable to conjure up anything and… you get what I’m getting at.

Who the hell uses these things in 2016?

More importantly, how do these places, with a clearly dying business model, sustain themselves? And why did they all wind up so close together?

I spent a week trying to figure it all out.

Humans do have their quirks involved with genital manipulation, these places satisfy the needs of those without internet porn or those just seeking relief,of sorts away from the crowd.

Not my cup of tea but some are participating with vigor vs a real relationship with strings and baggage.

The final debate tonight. I can’t wait!!!

My daughter-in-law had surgery today for discs in her neck. Her arms and hands had been falling asleep, and burning, and with pain running down them. She had surgery in that area about 8 years ago, I think the next two discs went. The doctor was going to take the old hardware out and redo everything, etc. She’s out of surgery and in recovery. A school bus dropped 6 year old Nicholas off at our house. Don’t know what time Pete will get here tonight to pick him up. I don’t know what to do with him, but he’s 6 now and can take care of himself. He doesn’t watch TV at their new house because the TV is in the basement, so he’s watching it here. He has toys and books here and grandpa has offered to teach him to play WAR, “Nicholas, do you want to play cards?” Bob got a firm “no” every time, lol.

Installing new struts on the Buick resulted in two separate major bleeding events, Prednisone is making my skin thin, it tears easily, I got to dump that stuff, I can remember the last time I tried to get off it with clarity, might have approach it differently.

It is the Adrenal Gland most affected by Prednisone, it does the glands’ job for it, causing it to go on hiatus, sometimes permanently, I figure to kick start it by introducing amphetamines, prescribed of course, to take Mr. Adrenaline off the gravy train and put him to work again, and eliminating the need for Prednisone after a period of time.

Just a theory, not doctor approved yet, Dr. Den has been fixing Den for years until Den got hung up on BIG PHARMA addiction.

Prednisone is probably my next stop to treat eczema. Scary stuff, really.

I am at 7.5mg/day, sub-dermal hematomas are a part of every repair job. Short term use with a plan for withdrawal is OK, long term use, not so much, that’s me.

Test area with Hydrogen Peroxide to check for foaming, if so, keep cloth (small folded paper towel)soaked with HP on the area for as long as you can, add HP to cloth as it evaporates then remove and apply anti-bacterial stuff and cover. Repeat 2/3 times a day

No foaming? Next Thing to try:

I swore by Gunk Carburetor Cleaner in the small cans (pint?) cured my warts when I used it to clean an aluminum Corvair engine, stinks like hell but works if you can find it. The idea is to make the eczema harder to exist by polluting it out of existence with chemical application.

I would try motor oil first on a small folded paper towel, applied to the area and leave it set as long as you can. Take proper caution not to oil the furniture? Shop towels catch the runoff oil if any.

Repeat as necessary no more than twice/day.

So sez Dr Den, credentials listed above.

Via Waddell & Reed downtown to the Tokyo Seoul took 41 minutes on the sticks. Then home much the same way, after salmon bento box with seaweed salad, made a total of 83 minutes after I steamed up the College Hill Climb and Maple Street Extension, then down to the house. No birds at all today.

    Day 4: 46+83=129 minutes.
