Long-time friends of ours, a Stanford Law professor, and wife who is a “retired” (before 50 yrs of age) Google corporate attorney, posted this (below) on his FB this a.m….he’s hoping that on November 9th it will look like a stupid move, but they are not taking any chances.
Not an election pitch, but a public service announcement.
On the advice of our financial adviser we are moving money out of stocks and into cash to hedge against the risk that Donald Trump will win the election, tanking the stock market.
Mark told me about this, but also posted on social media — you should see the “discussion” that has ensued. The money that they are moving out of stocks is in their retirement account, which I would imagine is substantial. He views this as a “hedge.” And, reiterates…he hopes the move will prove to be “stupid” but not a risk they are willing to take.
Frankly, I was surprised at the financial advisers recommendation. But, I’m not an expert on these things. I have my $$$$$$$ tied up in sock under the mattress. Just kidding…
Its Dads Weekend and many are here already. So they have to pick this evening to finish up the sidewalk on B Street near Michigan Street, blocking traffic. Then at the top of B Street the police and firemen had blocked off a section, waiting for the Avista Utilities truck, which came just as I arrived. A big section was yellow taped, so I had to trespass as the sidewalk was closed as well. The trees and power poles looked fine, lights were mostly on, so I don’t know what the commotion was about. Maybe the power to the Newman Center was out with a downed line.
Anyway, now having a wild sockeye salmon dinner @the Hillside Cafe. Yum.
Home from the choir concert. Actually 5 different groups, women’s and then men’s all-university choirs, the audition concert choir, after the intermission the Madrigal Singers and finally some short pieces by the opera workshop. Very fine.
Bob may be going back to work, so-to-speak. He may be doing his old job at Stockbridge Mfg, here from home, because the guy he trained to do it was let go by the new boss. The new boss thought he could do the job, but he knows nothing about it. In a nut shell, Bob may be able to do his old job here, from the house, on his computer. Get the bills for the place paid, give something to Bob to do. I’ll keep you posted. If it all works out, we’ll have a few extra bucks around here!

For a brief moment in time, because of David Ross, Eddie Vedder, Bill Murray, and a game of WS games, I was a Cubbies fan.

That’s great, working from home might require a better internet though, maybe they will pay for the good stuff. 😉
