Solar Blast Sunday

POTENT CORONAL HOLE FACES EARTH: A canyon-shaped hole in the sun’s atmosphere is facing Earth, and it is spewing a stream of fast-moving solar wind toward our planet. NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory photographed the giant fissure on March 25th:

This is a “coronal hole” (CH) — a vast region where the sun’s magnetic field opens up and allows solar wind to escape. A gaseous stream flowing from this coronal hole is expected to reach our planet on during the late hours of March 27th and could spark moderately-strong G2-class geomagnetic storms around the poles on March 28th or 29th.

We’ve seen this coronal hole before. In early March, it lashed Earth’s magnetic field with a fast-moving stream that sparked several consecutive days of intense auroras around the poles. The coronal hole is potent because it is spewing solar wind threaded with “negative polarity” magnetic fields. Such fields do a good job connecting to Earth’s magnetosphere and energizing geomagnetic storms.

There is a Medicare For All petition out there. I signed.

If the lily-livered Dems had any balz, they’d be taking a pro-active public stand for Medicare For All, riding the fail of the Repub fail on repeal of ACA.

Yes…yes…we’ve heard it all, “that isn’t attainable in today’s political climate” blah blah……well, I say BS to that! Fight for it! The ACA has some good features, but it’s mostly a very conservative corporate give-away to big pharma, insurance, medical device manufacturers…ACA (Obamacare) is NOT progressive. It is NOT designed to move us closer to Medicare For All.

Contact your congresscritters, tell them the Republican fail is an OPPORTUNITY to begin the legislative process to transition to MEDICARE FOR ALL.

All the gloating that Ryan, et al f**ked up is wasted energy!

Medicare isn’t the answer either, especially if you are poor. The deductibles and Part B, Part D and the rest will take all your money. If you elect to not take part B, every year you are without will result in a 10% premium increase if you choose pick it up later. The only exception is if you have a viable non-Medicare policy in force at the time.

The likelihood of losing your home will increase if you get too deep in debt from Medicare costs.

We need free medical period, minimum co-pays, no premiums, minimum deductibles. We can accomplish this by cutting the defense budget by a bunch and use that money to reimburse the medical professionals, leaving the parasitical insurance companies out of the equation altogether.

In other words we need VA healthcare for all, very small co-pays, drugs and doctor visits with exceptions (waivers) for low income folks.

I agree with you. As the richest nation in the world, government should guarantee access to necessary healthcare for ALL. All comers. No exceptions. It’s about human dignity.

If you want more than what’s “necessary” — pay for it yourself, whether it’s through an insurance policy you purchase, or out of your ow deep pockets.

But, for gawdsakes…every human deserves CARE.

I wasn’t clear…Medicare FOR ALL is better than the crappy legislation called he Affordable Care Act, but it is NOT the ideal solution.

You’re so right, Den…people still go bankrupt on Medicare. It’s not FREE.

And, I’m sick and tired of “progressives” who yammer about means-testing it…that’s when it turns into a “welfare” program in the minds (using the term loosely) of the far right.

      What a country!

LBJ, with a huge majority, could only manage to push through Medicare for the elderly. Ain’t perfect but the thought of Medicare For All makes Republicants’ heads explode.

If we could agree on MFA then maybe we could move on to VAcare For All…

In the 40s right now. We had a high of 53° today. Grandson’s birthday party was in in Pete’s garage. No one froze.

Took a stroll outside just after 10:00 p.m. REALLY dark tonight. Even my solar lights were out after two days of no sun. Still, it was beautiful out. Not frigid, didn’t need my hat and gloves but I put them on anyway, wuss that I’m turning into.
