Boeing Co warned employees on Monday it planned another round of involuntary layoffs that would affect hundreds of engineers at its commercial airplanes unit, according to a source and a memo seen by Reuters.
The latest job cuts followed a prior involuntary reduction of 245 workers set for May 19 as the company responded to increasing competition and slowing aircraft sales.
The additional layoffs are due to start June 23, according to the memo from John Hamilton, vice president of engineering at Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
“We are moving forward with a second phase of involuntary layoffs for some select skills in Washington state and other enterprise locations,” the memo said. “We anticipate this will impact hundreds of engineering employees. Additional reductions in engineering later this year will be driven by our business environment and the amount of voluntary attrition.”
Boeing’s airplane unit eliminated several hundred engineers through voluntary redundancies announced in January and March.

BOEING has its eye on war-making — commercial aircraft are secondary.

You’re right to doubt…I was hyperbolic. 😉 But, first part of the sentence stands. And, dare I saw…military & defense contracts for Boeing will increase and commercial aircraft contracts will decrease.

I had to hit the road today, I had 8 stops to make. Four of them were on the way to Lansing. The other four were in Stockbridge. Watched a movie and Cash Cab with Bob, and that’s about all I got done today.
Except, Windows 10 downloaded some big-ass update, let them do it while we watched the movie, and no I’m having trouble w/ my screen saver. It comes on when it should, but shaking the mouse or touching the keyboard doesn’t stop it. I have to hit CTL/ALT/DEL. *sigh* I did some research, but I need to work on my son’s birthday card, and other things, I’m leaving the problem until tomorrow.

Home from the symphonic orchestra concert in which Alice played a demanding oboe concerto by Hummel. The final Mendelssohn was the best rendition of his Symphony no. 5 I have ever heard.
Afterwards congratulated Alice, along with many others. She was awarded the School of Music’s top student award just before the Mendelssohn.
