Swarming Sunday

The small earthquake that struck Yellowstone National Park on Thursday night was part of a swarm that has been hitting the area since Monday, scientists say.

The quake was centered near West Yellowstone, but was also felt by people in Gardiner and Bozeman.

“As of 10 a.m. this morning we had located a total of 235 earthquakes in the area,” said Jamie Farrell, University of Utah research professor of seismology.

Yellowstone gets about 1,500 to 2,000 earthquakes every year. About half of those come in earthquake swarms — lots of earthquakes in a small area in a short amount of time.

So this activity is fairly normal, Farrell said.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TO DEN AND DOC! Hope you heard from your kids. If not, you’re still a father and get the Father’s Day wish.

Pete’s came over, Pete and Nicholas got in the pool. Sara didn’t but she did some vacuuming for me, hooray!

WOW, did it cool down! We had maybe 2 minutes of rain late this morning and that was it. Yesterday it sure looked like rain, got dark out, I kept watering and it’s a good thing I did because nothing happened. I know somewhere up near Lansing got it, along with some flooding. Guess our number didn’t come up yet.

Something went wrong with Bob’s piece of crap computer today. I think I got it up and running but it still seems slower than usual.

I went to MSconfig and went through the start-up processes and disabled the ones that are unnecessary. The thing still booted up slow as molasses.

The kids left a half hour ago, Bob is laying down due to the damn back pain, and I’m going outside to watch birds and drink beer, etc. 🙂

Clouds rolling in somewhere, need clouds now, soon, got to 90 inside, still stuffy, I thought I would pass out from heat stroke, hot steak, hot veggies, hot corn, I had to take a cool shower after supper, and another before bed, ugly hot, have to run the AC tomorrow, I have been reluctant to do so to save money but this heat is over and above money, once the building gets hot it takes a lot of time to cool it back down, no breeze.
