Oh, Den! Thanks for posting my garden photos on your blog! That fawn has become a regular. Very cute…drinks from my birdbaths and sleeps among the shrubbery. I think s/he may be separated from its mommy…or mom is not a helicopter parent! 😉

I love having deer stroll through my neighborhood, which will probably be hampered now that they have razed the open field behind my place called for a 325 unit condo complex. 2-3 stories each.

Oh, I don’t know about the hampering factor…that they’ve razed the open field could mean you’ll have more Bambis strolling through your ‘hood for sustenance. I swear, they are not deterred around here by development….they look at humans, with those big, innocent brown eyes, as much to say, “Excuse me….we were here first.”

In 1940, when the average lifespan was 63.5 years, approximately 9M Americans received Social Security, and the ratio of workers to beneficiaries was 159 to 1.
By 2010, the average lifespan was 78.3 years, and nearly 39M people received SS benefits. The ratio of workers to retirees was already down to 2.9 to 1.
That was BEFORE the first boomer turned 65. Today, more than 10,000 US boomers reach age 65 every day, but despite living longer than previous generations, they are less active, have higher rates of chronic disease & disability, and spend more on medical care. 40% of them are low-income and will need public assistance.

That’s me, kicked to the curb by assholes that are raking in millions, forced to get SS at 62, relying on the VA for medical, one foot on a banna peel the other in the grave, fighting back the only way I can, pounding a keyboard till the end.

Then back home the short way makes 71 minutes so far. Was going to go downtown for 2 errands, but it is too hot while wearing a light jacket. The jacket has pockets for the papers, but when I am ready to try again I guess I will fold the paperwork into the lumbar pack. Also, this mobile device won’t hold a charge long enough for such an extended trip. So home to the recharger.

Went outside for a smoke and to warm up as the sweat on my back was chilling when inside, where the temperature is about 74 °F. In that time the charge on this device only increased by 6%. So maybe I won’t be able to go downtown in time for the errands.

Took a nap which lasted too long, until 4:20 pm. So just went back to sleep.

Bob doing pretty good, bounced back fine from that latest crisis. So…I jumped in the car and went to the library. When I was about to turn into our driveway I noticed that our mailbox was gone! The post was there, but no black mailbox. I pulled in, got out and walked the 200 feet of ditch, no box anywhere. I also looked into the arborvitaes I have growing at the top of the ditch. Nothing. I walked across the road, looked in that ditch, which is quite a drop, but didn’t see anything. If a truck or car hit it, it must have traveled pretty far to disappear like that. The county hasn’t cut the ditches down here on Carter Rd yet, it could just be hiding. OR SOMEONE STOLE IT? What the heck for, geez. It’s the cheapest black box in the hardware store, GO BUY YOURSELF ONE, DAMMIT!
So, now I have to get to a store for a new box then I have to wait for Pete to come over to install it. Jill’s Brian is out of town so he can’t do it. Pete was just here yesterday, might not see him for a couple days. I’ll call the post office in the morning to explain, then hope they’ll hold my mail and not make me drive there every day to pick it up.

Gee whiz…one darned thing after another.
Not the same kind of thing…but people! Did I tell you DWFers, that a friend took her dog to go for a hike. She drove to the trailhead, Parked her car, many cars in the lot, but no people in sight.
Then! Out of the blue, a guy approached her and asked, “do you mind if I hike with you in the nude?”
She scurried back to her car and went home.

Major phone issues here, my cell phone has no signal. I drove to within 1000feet of the tower and got two bars. I am trying to set up a VOIP service but have not had much luck because I have to respond with a number sent to the phone with me near the tower to receive the call. then drive home and see if it works with the internet, I tried Skype so far, did not work, now I have to find a different “APP” to try.

I’m just full of good news…now this from WashingtonPost.com:
In the first 200 days of 2017, U.S. gun deaths were up more than 12 percent over last year, with 8,539 people dying of gun wounds (excluding suicide by gun). Firearms injuries were up nearly 8 percent, to 17,043, and the number of children under age 12 shot by a gun increased by 16 percent to 394.

No mailbox, searched the ditch once again. Then when I drove up the road to the West’s farm to buy tomatoes, I eyeballed both sides of the road and mowed areas both ways. Nothing. It’s a mystery.

Hot comodity those mailboxes. Next box, stencil paint your numbers on, yours was too clean and newish tempting those little red devils to take it and toss it in their pickup and leave.

I can’t wait to see what the deal is with Trump’s tax returns, see what he’s been hiding. It’s going to be good. I just hope whatever they find becomes public knowledge. I won’t like it if they keep things secret. This is OUR government, it is us, we have a right to know Trump’s story.
