His photo looks so strange, you might think it is Photoshopped. It’s real. A sequence of images on Yakovlev’s Russian language social media page shows the cloud expanding naturally into the atmosphere.
The instigating missile may have been a Topol ICBM reportedly launched from the Plesetsk space center 800 km north of Moscow toward the Kura test range in Kamchatka. The flight path is about right for a sighting by Yakovlev. Moreover, when Russia test-launched the same type of missile last month, some sky watchers reported unusual clouds then, too.
Perhaps high altitude winds blew some of this blue exhaust west, visually mixing with geomagnetic auroras over Scandinavia. Wright notes that the blue and green lights were indeed moving independently, as if they came from different sources. “I’m leaning toward the rocket explanation,” he says.

Unfortunately, Micki, big games like in post season baseball since 9/11 have replaced Take Me Out to the Ball Game during the 7th inning stretch with God Bless America, a treacly song I despise. But it’s still the World Series, and my team is in it!

The way this country reacted to 9/11 is disgusting.
I’m glad your team is in! Go, Dodgers! My grandpa would have been rootin’ for the Dodgers right along with you!

What do you think about the recent health claims that up to 4 cups of coffee per day is positively good?

I haven’t seen the study, but I would wager a guess that drinking four cups of coffee each day CAN BE part of a healthy diet in healthy people.
If a person had the common heart rhythm disorder, atrial fibrillation (Afib), they’d probably be advised to steer clear of caffeinated beverages, alcohol, or other stimulants because those factors can trigger an Afib episode.
If the study claims people can avoid an early death by drinking four cups of coffee a day, you have nothing to worry about. Dying in one’s 70s is not an early death.
REALITY CHECK: No one gets out alive. Death is 100%
Norman Cousins: “Death is not the enemy. Living in constant fear of it is.”
P.S. I wonder how many ounces are in these “cups” of coffee
P.S.S. In spite of what marketers shove down throats — there is no “cure” for aging

The report was either in Science Daily or phys.org. So cups are standard measuring cups. The claim was an anti correlation between coffee and strokes or heart attacks. But such are not necessarily causal. Both might be due to good genes, diet or exercise as examples.
