The Russian government funds Sputnik and Russia Today, or RT. Both of the websites spread misinformation and published stories that were negative toward Hillary Clinton during the 2016 U.S. presidential election, U.S. intelligence agencies have said.

“It’s basically RT and Sputnik that are the two, and there’s a whole bunch of coverage about what we’re doing there,” Schmidt said, according to a video of the talk posted on the event’s Facebook page.

Google spokeswoman Andrea Faville said Schmidt was referring to ongoing efforts announced in April to demote search results that link to low quality, false and deliberately misleading content. The company said at the time it would work to highlight authoritative content.

Google does not manually assign rankings to individual websites, Faville said, but analyzes a website’s attributes to automatically give it a position in results.

Don’t gag on a turkey bone!….as I mentioned in an earlier post, I have no idea HOW I got on Paul Ryan’s email list…but I decided I wouldn’t opt out, so I can see what drivel he sends to his willing dupes.

From My Family to Yours, Happy Thanksgiving
    November 22, 2017 | Speaker Paul Ryan | http://spkrryan.us/2iE7t7X

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect upon those things for which we are most appreciative—maybe the things we take for granted as we go through our daily lives. First and foremost, I am thankful for my family.

I’m eternally grateful to the men and women serving in our Armed Forces, who put their lives on the line each and every day to protect our country. I’m thankful for our country’s law enforcement officers and first responders, who answer the call of duty to help their fellow citizens in times of need. And I’m thankful for the American people entrusting us with the opportunity to serve in Congress and make a positive difference in people’s lives.

From my family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving.

    Paul Ryan

He;y, Doc. I had your birthday card mostly finished, I was shocked to find out. Wonder when I did that? Anyway, I wrapped it up and put it in the mail yesterday.

Cold here today. Went to town to mail something at the post office. Gassed up the car, Jill came over last this morning to watch a “Walking Dead” episode. Had to leave earlier than expected so we only knocked out one episode.

She’s in the process of evicting her first renter. Never had to evict anyone before, so she’s had to get enmeshed in the paperwork to make it happen. She got a call from the county clerk that the paperwork was wrong where she only put one of the couple’s names on the forms, and both of them have to be on there. She was so mad. She stood in front of a woman at the court who assured her only the one name was needed. She didn’t want to leave and take care of that but I told her to never put off to tomorrow what she can do today. Told her the court will be closed Thursday and Friday, blah, blah, blah.

I was right. She went, got it taken care of and it will be in front of some judge Monday for a signature. If she would have been lazy, this stuff would been delayed even further.

That jerky, moronic president of ours is always fighting with someone. I’ve run out of things to call him when I see his stupid face on TV, or read articles about his latest antics. Fighting with the father of the basketball player. He really makes no secret about what he expects anymore. Everyone must grovel, kiss the hem of his pant, thank him profusely for anything and everything. What a sick guy that needs constant praise. Gawd, I hate him. He makes my head want to explode!

Presidents always enter office with something to prove. Trump sounds perplexed, kinda stupid, full of bluster. He’s loud and obnoxious, and I would wager a very unhappy person. What is he really? He’d burn books if his supporters could read for content. But, they can’t. They love him. Still. Hillary may have been the preferred establishment candidate….so someone really screwed up, since Trump’s the one occupying the Oval Office.

Who knows what’s coming down the pike…because, the reality is, the permanent powers are still showing every sign that they can work with him.

Round trip was 105 minutes. Too warm out. This time of year the first sticking snow would fall.

We rural people already have the devil of a time using the internet. You know that from all my complaining over the years. I had dial-up from 1998 until 2007 when we got Freedom Net and the antenna on the roof that gave us 2 mbps. I think our dial-up was 23 kbps. While things improved a tad as the years went by, we still don’t have a fast internet like people have in the cities.

Now it will probably be slowed down. I get a whopping 7 mbps, woo hoo. I would hate to revisit
dial-up speeds. At least I now have a huge gig limit for the month so at least THAT isn’t a problem anymore.
