After Tesla’s Model S sedans and Model X SUVs roll off the company’s Fremont, California assembly line, the electric vehicles usually make another stop – for repairs, nine current and former employees have told Reuters.

The luxury cars regularly require fixes before they can leave the factory, according to the workers. Quality checks have routinely revealed defects in more than 90 percent of Model S and Model X vehicles inspected after assembly, these individuals said, citing figures from Tesla’s internal tracking system as recently as October. Some of these people told Reuters of seeing problems as far back as 2012.

Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) said its quality control process is unusually rigorous, designed to flag and correct the tiniest imperfections. It declined to provide post-assembly defect rates to Reuters or comment on those cited by employees.

The world’s most efficient automakers, such as Toyota (7203.T), average post-manufacturing fixes on fewer than 10 percent of their cars, according to industry experts. Getting quality right during initial assembly is crucial, they said, because repairs waste time and money.

    My AmEx card has been frozen, until they hear from me. SS told them of Bob’s passing. 😦 They’re waiting to hear from me, can’t wait to see what they’ll do. Probably not let me have a card in my name.

    I charged Pete’s xmas presents last night on my Visa, scared to death that one will be frozen, too. THEN what? Jill told me not to worry, I have her.

    I’m going to run up to my credit union and apply for a credit card. I was going to do that everntually, but I guess the time to do it is now. I simply have to have a credit card, can’t live w/o it. That’s funny, I pay cash everywhere I go but I can’t write a check or hand over cash when I buy something on-line.

    I want to call them now but I’ll just cry. Been crying off and on the past couple hours, not in good enough shape to talk to them.

        I havan’t had any beer since Bob was confined to bed October 13th. 😦 I still haven’t wanted a beer, no fun now. I was happy when he was here, enjoyed my beer, but I’m not happy now. I enjoy the Margaritas when out to lunch w/ someone, but can’t drink at home. Yet. Once I get used to this new life.

    It is not the role of the Social Security Administration to notify American Express (or any other credit card company, mortgage lender, etc.) of a person’s death.

    The route for notification is … the federal agency (SSA) maintains a “death list” that tracks the Social Security numbers of people whose deaths have been reported to them. Once an individual’s SS number pops up on the list, a death indicator is triggered on their credit file, at all three major credit bureaus…Equifax, Experian, TransUnion.

    The credit bureau updates its records to reflect the person’s death. When the update is made, a spouse’s credit history will be flagged to show that he or she has passed away and his or her name will be removed from any preapproved credit offer mailing lists. The credit card company can freeze the account if the spouse’s name was not on the original credit card application and did not have a secondary card with his/her own name on it, in connection with the primary card holder.

    If a deceased person was a co-signor on a mortgage for a son, daughter, friend, whomever, some lenders will allow the co-applicant to keep paying the mortgage. Others will require that the co-applicant re-qualify to determine if the survivor qualifies on his/her own. If the co-applicant doesn’t qualify, the mortgage will have to be paid (or “called”) or get another co-signor.
