Snowden Saturday

YOUR DIGITAL SECURITY, any sufficiently paranoid person will remind you, is only as good as your physical security. The world’s most sensitive users of technology, like dissidents, activists, or journalists in repressive regimes, have to fear not just hacking and online surveillance, but the reality that police, intelligence agents, or other intruders can simply break into your home, office, or hotel room. They can tamper with your computers, steal them, or bodily detain you until you cough up passwords or other secrets.

To help combat that threat, one of the world’s most well-known activists against digital surveillance has released what’s intended to be a cheap, mobile, and flexible version of a physical security system. On Friday, the Freedom of the Press Foundation and its president, famed NSA leaker Edward Snowden, launched Haven, an app designed to transform any Android phone into a kind of all-purpose sensor for detecting intrusions.

In the middle of getting my end of the food ready for tomorrow. Needed to sit down for a few, thaw my legs out, lol.

Shrimp is cooling on the sink.
Broccoli prepped and blanched for Broccoli Salad, sauce for it half done, bacon for it cooked and in the fridge for tomorrow, sunflower seeds measured out for tomorrow.
Eggs for Deviled Eggs boiled, soaked in cold water and now spread out on the kitchen table.

Next, going to make my salads for the next three days, wish that job wouldn’t have landed today, oh well.

Cherry squares will be last. I have the butter in a bowl trying to get to room temperature. May have to nuke it a bit later. It’s cool in the house, that’s not helping the butter.

Every year I like to hide things around the house for the kids to find. Kind of like Easter egg time, which they always love. Nothing like a treasure hunt. Last year and this I have 20 35mm film cases with odd amounts of change in them. After they find all twenty the one with the most wins, THEN, after counting the change in each one collected THAT person wins. See? A two-fold game, more fun than a one-fold game, lol.

    Be back later.

Carol you remind me of Mom, she used to toil for hours before the family X-mas dinners and carry them through, everyone else did dishes. Those days are gone but I have her recipe box, unfortunately I don’t want to toil for hours cooking but reading them brings back good memories.

Christmas Eve tomorrow, Christmas up on Monday, the Capitalista Money Fest is about over except the returns, buy it whether you need it or not, keep that economy going all the while filling the landfills with yesterdays refuse, it’s the great rich white-boy way.

Thanks for the Christmas e-card, Den.
