Polar Tuesday

Bone-chilling cold gripped the middle of the US as 2018 began on Monday, breaking a low temperature record, icing some New Year’s celebrations and leading to at least two deaths attributed to exposure to the elements.

The National Weather Service issued wind chill advisories covering a vast area from south Texas all the way to Canada and from Montana and Wyoming in the west through New England to the northern tip of Maine.

Dangerously low temperatures enveloped eight midwest states including parts of Kansas, Missouri, Illinois and Nebraska along with nearly all of Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota and North Dakota.

The weather service said a temperature of minus 26C (minus 15F) was recorded in Omaha before midnight on Sunday, breaking a record low dating back to 1884, and the temperature was still dropping early on New Year’s Day. That reading did not include the wind chill effect. Last week, Omaha officials cited the forecast in postponing the 18th annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks Spectacular that usually draws about 30,000 people.

What a clusterfuk! try to do anything somewhat logical with wordpress is like pulling teeth in cats. I had a post set to go this AM but it did not go so I did another one, well the sonsabitches put the one originally posted slam on top of my repost post that previously did not show up so I had two on the same day, ARRRRGGGGHHHH! Just try to straighten it out, ended up trashing this post after copying the text and re-posting it just to get tomorrows post off the top, I don’t need this frustration!

4095 posts here @ DWF most went smoothly until today, grrrr.

To Waddell & Reed for a couple of signatures and home via the usual Campus Hill Climb and Maple Street Extension route with only a few slippery spots makes 69 minutes for today.

Went to the bird seed store, to Meijer’s for groceries. It hurts to shop because there is no Bob. I pass all the things I would have bought for him and only have to buy for me, not even for the Christmas feast. I spent only around $71, it was mostly vegetables.

Got home, put it away and then drove to Stockbridge to the library, gassed up my car and took bottles back to the mom & pop grocery store.

Came home, made a cup of coffee then finished yesterday’s Mexican lunch from Los Tres. This morning I finished the two birthday cards and put them in my mailbox.

    Now what. * sigh*

I spent all day painting over the one wall in my living room that was a dark oxblood color, it sucked all the light out of the room, didn’t slop too bad painting it white, I used the only paint I had that was any good, white ceiling paint. Funny, it looks light beige with the other tan walls around it.

I had the X-mas tree against the dark wall and could hardly see the tree through that awful darkness unless it was lit, no more!

I am usually a ‘Three Stooges’ painter, slop everywhere, I went slow and persistent on a mission against the darkness, conquered the dark force and restored peace to the valley.
