Greetings of the New Year (a bit late) DWFers!

I notice Dr. B made a couple of mentions of a CT scan. I wonder what is being scanned? With all that pole walking, he certainly seems (from a distance) to be in fine condition.

I have a question…does anyone here remember a song from the 1970s titled, “Me and My Arrow” written and performed by Harry Nilsson? I believe it was incorporated into a movie called, “The Point.”

Here’s my question: I know nothing about The Simpsons. Does anyone know if that song has some “role” in The Simpsons series — and, if so…what was it?

I read in TNYT this morning that the predicted temperature at the peak of Mt. Washington in New Hampshire today is – 95º F !!!!!! Minus 95!

Been cold here, but in a warming trend, with overcast and perhaps, later, some drizzle.

Today is the 12th day of Christmas. Take down decorations tonight.

Christmas has been erased in the basement. Same up here except for my LED tree in the bay window and the lights Pete put out in the Redbud tree. I’m not ready to part with the last two Xmas items, I love the lights.

Pete dropped by with my long, lost favorite pot yesterday. It needed it’s handle welded and he took it to his friend who welds over two years ago. You wouldn’t believe how much I’ve missed that pot. I whined, gnashed my teeth, moaned practically every time I had to cook. It was my main man, just the right size to boil up a box of spaghetti noodles, make mashed potatoes. I hated having to use soup pots for those jobs.

When Pete was about to leave he asked me what I wanted to do about the outside lights. One of the loops had fallen by the way. He said, unplug them, take them down or put that loop back up. He had to get the shuffleboard stick out of the garage to do it, but yes…I wanted the loop pushed back up. At zero degrees, I won’t have him take them down until warmer weather. And in the meantime, I’m going to leave them plugged in. Just for a little while longer.

Phone dead when I first got up, working a half hour later and it worked fine all day. Early evening I was going to call my friend Diane again, phone was dead. DAMN it! I got the bill out, places the service call and they’ll come running out here Wednesday January 10th. If I find it working again tomorrow during the day, I’m not cancelling shit. Phone has a routine now, goes out early evening. It will have to prove to me it’s in top form and not dropping out for half the day, for several days. If I wouldn’t have cancelled that first call, the repairman would be on my case tomorrow.

Coming home in the biting fog was slower, maybe because I am full: daily total is 49 minutes. Nipped.

      Day 6: 327+49=376 minutes.

It rained here today, not a gully washer just steady light rain for a few hours soaked things down a bit. The Buick lost a coil pack for the ignition, there are three for the v-6, new one on it’s way for $20 thanks to Rock Auto, online parts with the lowest prices sent right to your door. Luckily I have BIG BLUE for backup to fetch groceries and beer. 🙂

Understand the convenience, but Rock Auto will make local parts stores go the way of book stores.

Not even, the local guys serve the needs of the local repair shops who find it inconvenient to wait a week for their parts and are not in danger of disappearing anytime soon. 😉
