Aurora Sunday

GEOMAGNETIC STORMS IN PROGRESS: Earth has entered a stream of high-speed solar wind, and this is causing G1-class geomagnetic storms. The gaseous material is flowing from a wide hole in the sun’s atmosphere–so wide, in fact, that Earth could be inside the stream for some days to come. NOAA forecasters estimate a 55% chance of continued storms on May 6th and 7th. High-latitude sky watchers should be alert for auroras, especially in the southern hemisphere where deepening autumn darkness favors the visibility of Southern Lights.

    According to the Spokesman-Review:

Dr. B’s dizzy dame representative faces a tough re-election bid this year… Is that true???

McMorris Rodgers faces a tough re-election bid this year against Democrat Lisa Brown, and trade has become a major campaign issue.

Brown has criticized McMorris Rodgers and President Trump for the absence of a bipartisan farm bill and his bellicose comments and proposals on trade.

Washington is the most export-dependent state in the nation and Eastern Washington is in the thick of the statistics with a wheat industry that sells about 85 percent of its crop overseas.

McMorris Rodgers said the TPP, while not a perfect deal, is “the best counter to China and China’s growing dominance” in the global economy, adding that companies in China have engaged in illegal practices such as steel dumping and theft of intellectual property.

American wheat producers fear they will face a competitive disadvantage when shipping to Japan, which is lowering its tariffs for TPP member countries but not for the United States. +

I read TNYT op/ed that Dr. B mentioned regarding possible Trump impeachment proceedings — by Rep Adam Schiff. I concur.

DEMOCRATS: DON’T TAKE THE BAIT ON IMPEACHMENT

First, let Mueller finish…but even then, if Mueller finds good evidence of wrong-doing and reports before the 2018 mid-terms, do we want to turn the election into a fight on impeachment?

Secondly, even if the Dems take back the House, it’s very doubtful they’d take back the Senate — and even if they did, there’s not a chance of a snowball in hell that the Senate would deliver 67 votes in favor of conviction, if the House did impeach Trump.

Third, if by some astonishing upset, the Senate did find the requisite 67 votes for conviction, we’d have PRESIDENT PENCE. That’s not a “solution” I’d want!!!!!

Let’s right the ship of state through the democratic process.

Jill and Brian came over, Brian sliced up that fallen sumac for me. Then they dragged me to the Wooden Nickel in Dansville and I had a burger, sweet potato fries and two beers. I brought most of the fries home. Stuffed, they have huge hamburgers. Bar burgers. Doubt I’ll be hungry again but I have a salad in the fridge if I need something to eat.

I skimmed some of the leaves off the top of the pool water, slid the screen along the bottom three times and got a bunch of leaves up and tossed overboard. That was my only job today. I’m a slug, but I knew I wouldn’t do any outdoor work once I ate that hamburger. Eh, doesn’t matter. There’s always tomorrow.
