Liar Party Thursday

Jacksonville FL Deluded Masses

I’ve been to TEA Party events and many other Right Wing events. While these events always left me baffled, there was some modicum of reality to those past events. Trump has bred a new kind of politicians and followers. And what I saw was dangerous – an alternate reality. There is one silver lining, however.

The Candidate Forum between two Republican Primary candidates proves an important point; the Right Wing lives in an alternate state of reality. The candidates adopted the biggest Trump flaw: lying. Because they have the trust of the community and a corresponding media and Right Wing think-tank support, they can mislead a large section of society.

I want to be clear. These people are not evil people. A well-designed system convinced some who were predisposed to the programming.

Today’s DWF post brings back memories with its link to https://egbertowillies.com/2013/12/20/lewis-powell-memo/a>

Lewis Powell, Jr. nominated to the Supreme Court by Richard Nixon (twice, the first time Powell turned him down), wrote the POWELL MEMO before accepting Nixon’s 2nd nomination. He wrote it for the US Chamber of Commerce. Recall Ralph Nader’s Unsafe at Any Speed — Powell’s memo was based, in part, on Nader’s exposé.

If you have time to read the POWELL MEMO, you’ll see the probable genesis for today’s ubiquitous aggressive molding of society’s attitudes on government, politics, business, and law!

HIs memo is the blueprint for the rise of the far-right conservative and neoliberal movement — the foundation for right-wing think tanks. Sparked ALEC (haven’t heard/read much about them lately — the American Legislative Exchange Council).

Lewis Powell believed in an America that had minimal government regulations, was pro-business, anti-socialist, low tax –and espoused return to the perceived halcyon pre-New Deal days of Business Rules. All dressed up in the benign sounding meme of the “free enterprise system.”

    And…here we are. F**ked in the drive-thru.

Lunch yesterday w/ Jill and a husband and wife, the husband was a political friend back in the old Lansing State Journal days. He also used to be a patient of Jill’s. She was shocked when she found out he knew me on the LSJ. We’ve met in person several times, yesterday was probably the third time.

Mowed when I got home, everything is beautiful out there. Today I went back to cleaning the garage. All the detritus that piled up over the winter has been taken care of, the work bench is cleaned up and the 6 foot table that is supposed to be an empty table to do things on was covered with things I tossed there during the winter. EVERY winter I tell myself I’m not going to do that and every spring stuff is piled up and put on hold.

After I backwashed the pool filter I had it going for several hours, then turned it on this morning again. The water is so dirty I need to backwash again. 😦 Tomorrow.

I picked up and hauled each of the 12 heavy patio stones off the drive near to where I want to install them. Had to do it in shifts, not all 12 in a row like I would have in the past, but they’re moved.

Usually when I encounter Poison Ivy the urushiol gets between the 4th and 5th fingers. Pulling weeds, the weeds sliding between my fingers.

Well, a couple days I ago it itched like crazy and the only way to scratch it is to drag a cloth between my last two fingers. I used my sweater because of the ribbing, that worked the best.

Now I have a gigantic blister like one would get from a burn, between my two fingers. I don’t want to break it so that’s why I cleaned the garage rather than doing more weeding.

I think I should put on gloves, but I’ve NEVER weeded w/ gloves on. I don’t want to use them.

And now there is something wrong with my face. No, not that kind of wrong, old lady ugly wrong, but a rash on my right cheek up to my eye and that side of my face feels swollen to me, like when Novocaine wears off. My eyelid kind of looked swollen compared to the other eye. Weird.

It’s across my forehead, too, and a spot on my left shoulder. It all itches slightly, but not like the P.I. did. *sigh* This is all so depressing.

At the WH gift shop, the peace talk commemorative coin has dropped in price from $24.95 to $19.95, and is being touted as the ‘Deal of the Day’.

And they posted a disclaimer as yo the fate of the coins:

    The Coin Will be Made
    Whether or Not the Summit
    Occurs as Scheduled

    Because the Theme is
    Coming Closer to Peace and
    Celebrates the Act of
    Communication Among
    Countries

    If Summit Does Not Occur
    You can Request a Refund
    but Most Supporters Have
    Said They Want This Heirloom
    of
    Political History Regardless of
    Outcome.

Maybe it should be called the twobitcoin.

The word “bit” long meant, in England, any coin of a low denomination. In early America, “bit” was used for some Spanish and Mexican coins that circulated and were worth one-eighth of a peso, or about 12 and one-half cents. Hence, two bits would have equaled about 25 cents.
