11-16-2003 – It’s your deer hits motorcycle anniversary, Den

And today would have been Carol and Bob’s anniversary, 55 years.

Jill has had 4 encounters with deer, one on I-96 on her way to work in the dark, going 80 mph. None of her deer accidents compare to mine yesterday, she said.

Den, hitting one on your motorcycle, that could have deadly!

I think I read recently that applications for deer licenses have dropped. I can take you at dusk to so many places in my rural neighborhood to see lots of deer. Bob and I used to drive to a couple of them to just count the them, could get up to 50…sometimes higher.

Despite the home fooseball game tomorrow, many, many students have already left for the Thanksgiving week break. Standard 15 minutes to the almost deserted standard place.

I bought my turkey, etc, yesterday. It was in the car with me when I got hit. I made cranberry relish a couple days ago and tossed it in the freezer. Watch me forget to take it out to thaw, that happened one year.

Den, any thoughts about how more than 1000 can be missing after the Camp fire?

It’s up in the air there. First of all it was Geezerville, hundreds of seniors retiring in what they thought was Paradise in the West, the fire burned so hot it cremated those that couldn’t get out, finding complete bones is all but impossible.

I think we will never look at the term; Campfire, without remembering the tragedy that has occurred and is ongoing as I write. Hundreds of displaced people camped out at the Chico Wallymart, no housing, no jobs, just the stuff they could grab on the way out. 😦
