Thugs Aside Tuesday

So, now that we know that Donald Trump and Mike Pence reached the White House through at least two specific and separate criminal conspiracies, what do we do about it?

Can they be removed from office? Can the election be done over? Can the Trump/Pence administration’s actions over the past two years be reversed, particularly the appointments of Gorsuch and Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court and all the damage to our federal agencies?

According to federal court filings last week from the Southern District of New York, and from the Special Counsel’s office, Donald Trump and Michael Cohen criminally conspired to hide from the American people the fact that Trump had sexual relations immediately after the birth of his son Baron with both Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, and that his affair with McDougal lasted about a year.

Had Republican voters known about those affairs long before Trump gained the momentum he did during the period of the cover-up, Trump wouldn’t have become the GOP’s nominee and would now be back to playing the roles of a faux billionaire and a reality TV star.

Similarly, those same court filings tell us that even after Trump won the GOP’s nomination for president, he continued to negotiate with the Russian government to build a Trump Tower in Moscow. Presumably construction would begin right after he lost the election of 2016, which is fully what he expected: he hadn’t even bothered to write an acceptance speech.

That Moscow property would have brought him, according to the court filings, “hundreds of millions of dollars” in net revenues, probably more than any other project he’d ever engaged in. It would finally make him financially secure.

And, because it was going to be financed by a Russian bank that’s under sanctions, and both Cohen and Manafort were expecting to get a cut of the action, they led his campaign to corruptly change the GOP’s platform to go soft on the Russians. The goal was to end the sanctions so they could move forward with the Moscow construction right after the elections.

Who knows what lies ahead? I sure don’t.

The possibility of a President Pelosi is not out of the realm of possibility, thinking back to the resignation of Spiro Agnew, that cascaded into the first unelected POTUS, never on a presidential campaign ticket.

But, that would not have happened if Nixon had not resigned…

Based on public knowledge of what Mueller has found in his investigation, I doubt if there are enough GOP senators to get to the 67 votes needed to convict Trump. Conviction means removal from office. The numbers require that at least 20 GOP senators would need to vote to convict — that’s assuming that all Dems would vote to convict (Manchin??)

Thom Hartmann’s article, to me, is interesting…but a waste of time.

Collusion is not a crime, but federal campaign violations are. If there’s proof Trump directed the violations, he’s toast. Smocky toast! If there’s evidence that Trump or his staff sought to conceal the crime, tamper with witnesses, or suborn perjury… maybe he’ll resign??

    I have no idea.

Yesterday afternoon, I was walking by the Bay, on our popular South Bay Trail, that includes Boulevard Park. BNSF rail tracks run parallel to the Bay at this point.

I noticed a person lurking and smoking in the brushy weeds, adjacent to the tracks, by a little beach area. There was a bicycle cattywampus against a tree, I didn’t notice if it was secured with a lock.

This spot is near a pedestrian at-grade crossing. As is typical, I heard a freight train coming from the north — they run at reduced speed in this area.

I took another walk around the perimeter of the park…as I came back around, the bike was in the same spot…Medic One, Bellingham fire trucks, and police arrive.

Medics rush from their vehicle, CPR equipment, etc. in hand. Go to the tracks, to the opposite side of the train, which is out of view from my vantage point. They return rather quickly…and drive off.

    I knew then — DEAD.

Police cordoned off the area with crime scene tape.

Will this be suicide by train? Someone walking with ear buds in at full volume? (But what about “feel” of the rumble of the train?) An insufficiently alert pedestrian who bought on his/her own death?

There will be much consternation that the pedestrian trail crosses the railroad tracks.

Well, turns out the person was female — and preliminary report is that it’s a “trespassing” situation on the tracks. If it was the same person lurking in the weeds, my impression was not a large-statured person.

“…Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokesperson Gus Melonas told The Bellingham Herald in an interview Tuesday that the pedestrian was female and that the railroad believes the incident was a “non-crossing, trespass situation,” on BNSF property, meaning the incident would not have occurred at the South Bay Trail crossing.
      …”.

You’re right, Den, suicide rates are rising…same with opioid and other drug-related deaths on the rise.

Not contemplating suicide myself, there’s no future in it.

However, it appears suicides are rising whether from a population boom or angst building in the masses, I’m not sure. Some stats about that here.

    OMG what a hoot!

Rich boy, Pelosi and Schumer all in the same room together, cameras rolling, pence sitting like a blow up doll unable to speak, while rich boy railed on about shutting down the Government down in a fit of pouty rage, he was just about falling off his shitty yellow colored chair, too bad he didn’t, that place needed some comedy, pence still frozen in place visibly scared.

What a shyt show that was, Pelosi was the only ADULT in the room.

Quite fitting for today’s post I thought.

I was cheering for her when Trump interrupted her and she kept talking, trying to finish what she had been saying, and he backed off. Then he said something shitty about how Nancy is having trouble talking, or something, and she shot back at him to NOT characterize her…

I wanted to wipe that smile off Schumer’s face. I hated how he kept looking forward rather than looking at the kook.

But Pelosi is in BIG trouble now. Trump’s warming up his thumbs for tonight. When she left the meeting she had some choice things to say about him that are really, REALLY going to piss her off.

That was the best Trump meeting ever. About time someone stood up to that bozo, warmed the cockles of my heart.

Pete & went to the show EARLY, the 10:00 a.m. showing. Ugh.

Went browsing at Menards, then lunch at The Video Store again, then he took me to Stockbridge so I could return an audio book to the library, buy a roll of stamps, and pick up my script in the drug store. Except for no tomatoes, everything going ok over here.

I don’t think I mentioned this, but Pete called the shop that has my car a few days ago to see if my insurance carrier showed up to evaluate the car. YES, they had, but there was news about more damage to my car. The post between the front and back door, and the bumper. Estimate went up to just a hair over $5,000. That means I won the guessing contest!

When we dropped it off for the estimate, Pete guessed $3,700 and the estimate was $3,900ish. My guess was $5,000, so now I AM the winner…w/o going over.
