Slime-ball Saturday

Concerned over President Donald Trump’s decision to fire FBI Director James Comey, the FBI reportedly opened an investigation into whether Trump was secretly working on behalf of Russia, according to a New York Times report published Friday night.

The bureau opened the counterintelligence inquiry days after Comey was ousted in May 2017, the Times reported, citing several people, including former law enforcement officials, familiar with the probe.

Investigators were specifically looking into whether Trump’s firing of Comey posed a national security threat as well as whether it was an obstruction of justice, considering the FBI’s broader investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Former law enforcement officials told the Times that the criminal aspect (whether Trump obstructed justice) and counterintelligence aspect (whether Trump was working covertly for Russia) of the investigation were combined into one inquiry because it would have been considered a national security threat if Trump had indeed ousted Comey to impede the Russia investigation.

    Stop doing that!

“Flushable wipes” are a pain in the drain, according to people who work at the business end of toilet plumbing and sewer pipes.

Call them what you will, but products like Wet Ones, Fresh-Care or Dude Wipes aren’t biodegradable and do nothing but clog the system.

“There’s no such thing as a flushable wipe,” said Eric Johnston, assistant public works director-operations for the city of Bellingham.

Some $2 million is spent annually to keep the city’s 300 miles of sewer mains flowing, and its 25 pump stations are cleaned monthly to remove grease and flushable wipes, Johnston said in an email.

“The only thing that should go down the drain is water, toilet paper, and things that come out of your body,” he said in a telephone interview with The Bellingham Herald.

No wipes or hygiene products of any kind should go swirling down — and that also goes for grease, oil, medication and chemicals, he said.

Just put wipes in the trash, because that’s where they’re headed anyway, he said.

“Eventually it gets to the pump station or treatment plant,” Johnston said. “All of that detritus gets bagged, collected and hauled to a landfill. If you don’t throw away the wipes, we have to.”

I like throwing them out the window of the car and watching them land on the car behind me’s windshield, LOL.

The switch for my computer arrived, Pete installed it today, up and running happily.

He assembled the outdoor cameras, put each of the 4 in different rooms and hooked up a monitor. COOL! Monitor was split into 4 pictures. He put it all away for now, it got too late to start putting them up outside. It’s going to be so neat when it’s all set up.

BIG news yesterday, Michael Schmidt broke a new story, looks like Trump works for Putin. Imagine that, an American president in thrall to another despot in this world. He is going DOWN. I wish he would hurry up and go down. Every minute he stays in office is keeping the American People in a perilous position.

    Carol, are you snowed in?

Nope. No snow anywhere around Mid Michigan. It got cold, but other than the few days recently where it got up to 40°, cold this winter is very level, always 20 to 23 or one or two degrees up, but VERY consistent temps this winter. I find that weird, and appreciated. Pete and I were just talking about that this afternoon. He’s also noticed the consistent temps.
