Voters’ first look at Washington Gov. Jay Inslee as a presidential candidate is a video that stakes his claim as the only contender who can “defeat climate change.”
At 4 a.m. Friday, the Democrat posted a 1 minute, 22-second campaign video that opens with a young woman saying: “Hi, governor. What do you have to say about climate change?”
Inslee’s replies: “ A lot.”
Speaking directly to the camera, Inslee says: “We’re the first generation to feel the sting of climate change, and we’re the last that can do something about it. We went to the moon and created technologies that have changed the world. Our country’s next mission must be to rise up to the most urgent challenge of our time — defeating climate change.”
The video ends with the second-term governor saying: “I’m Jay Inslee. I’m the only candidate who will make defeating climate change our nation’s No. 1 priority. We can do this; join our movement. This is our moment.”
Inslee is scheduled to make a live announcement of his bid for the Democratic nomination for president at 10 a.m. Friday at a Seattle-based solar installation company.
In my book, Inslee has a shot at the nomination because he’s setting himself TOTALLY apart from other potential candidates…he’s the ONLY politician to place CLIMATE CHANGE as the TOP issue in his campaign.
Even if he doesn’t snare the nomination, he’ll be ratcheting up attention on climate issues.
Things I did not know…that Richard Nixon had a brother living down the road in Bothell…well, dying down the road…
EDWARD NIXON, 1930-2019
Brother of President Richard Nixon dies at 88
BY MICHAEL R. BLOOD Associated Press
Edward Nixon, the youngest brother of former President Richard Nixon who staunchly defended his sibling’s White House legacy, died Wednesday. He was 88.
The Richard Nixon Foundation announced that Nixon died at a nursing facility in Bothell, Washington, a Seattle suburb.
A geologist and Navy veteran, Nixon worked on his brother’s 1968 and 1972 presidential campaigns and served as co-chairman of the Nixon re-election committee in 1972….
….Richard Nixon was 17 years old and getting ready to start college when his youngest brother was born on May 3, 1930, in Whittier, California. Edward Calvert Nixon was the fifth son of Frank and Hannah Nixon and had been the last surviving brother of the former president.
Because of their age difference, Edward Nixon described his older brother as a mentor and assistant father, the foundation said.

How ya doing Tim?
Hi, Tim. Hope all is well with you and your family.
Dammit, I posted one little thing under Tim’s post, and it doesn’t show. *phyttt*
Got to go out to eat today, the Maru, and sushi place. They didn’t have the Love Potion drink so I had to pick something else.
Met friend of family Jasna and her husband who drove down to Lansing from Midland on their way to visit his parents. After that visit Jasna is getting back on a plane and going back to Serbia to continue taking care of her dad who had a stroke a couple months ago.. Their health care system sucks, way worse than ours. They used to have a national health care but decided to partially privatize it, following in our footsteps, and it’s awful. Serbia isn’t like the U.S. Jasna said if you had to call for an ambulance, never tell them how old the person is. If you say he/she is 71 for instance, they may not show up for a couple hours. There were things they didn’t want to do for her dad because he’s old but Jasna, living here since she was 18, speaking perfect English AND Serbian, took care of everything. She found ways around everything.
So, she’s going back to stay with her parents, her mother is worthless pretty much, so Jasna helps him out a lot by making HIM put on his own pants, forcing him to move. Her mother continually helps him out and then he doesn’t grow stronger. Yeah, she needs to get back to Belgrade.
For the 3rd time, no Saturday.
