Truthout Tuesday

Greenland Ice Sheet Melting At Fastest Rate in 350 Years.

We’ve never experienced anything like this: We are living with the full knowledge of our collapsing biosphere and watching huge portions of it vanishing before our very eyes. Meanwhile, the industrial growth society (as eco-philosopher, author and Buddhist scholar Joanna Macy calls it) continues to grind on, and this veneer of normalcy persists one more day.

Yet simultaneously, a great awakening is occurring. Millions of people around the world are rising to protect what remains, working to mitigate the damage and to adapt to the drastically changing world. They are working to hold space for that which, despite seemingly overwhelming odds, may continue in the wake of this great collapse.

I have been giving a lot of lectures lately about the climate catastrophe that is upon us, and have increasingly been led to discuss grief. My own experience has shown me that only by facing what is happening head on, and allowing my heart to break, can I begin to respond accordingly.

Over medication is one of the biggest risk factors. And lack of exercise…

I transplanted 13 Tiger Lilies and one day lily yesterday and pulled many weeds, managed to stay on my feet doing all that for 2 1/2 hours before I started to have to sit to rest my legs for a few minutes. I couldn’t work that long at the beginning of the season, but constant doing it built me back up. I guess exercise DOES work, lol.

Nice day today, wanted to go back out but I had to make salads and cook and after being on my feet for a couple hours in the kitchen, my legs told me to go sit down and watch my news show at 4:00. Going out for my walk in a few minutes and I’ll be kicking myself for not working out there today. I do, however, every evening pull more weeds. Wherever I wander, I’ll bend over and start pulling.

Watched President Stupid in London this morning. He looked ridiculous as usual, like a fish out of water. And whoever his tailor was that made his tux, he should feed him to the dogs like Kim Jung Un would. He looked terrible, lots of photo-shopped memes going around with him in that tux.

    Motorhead alert!

  6. David B. Benson says:

Many contrails persisting. The new typical 30 minutes to the Old Post Office. Because I start the stop watch right outside my door.
