    Who knew? I sure didn’t.

Today is NATIONAL DOUGHNUT DAY — the first Friday of June.

“This day celebrates the doughnut and honors the Salvation Army Donut Lassies, the women who served doughnuts to soldiers during WWI.”

The tradition started as a fundraiser for Chicago’s Salvation Army during the Great Depression in 1938.

2020 hopeful Inslee: Build foreign policy around climate

Jay Inslee wants the U.S. to shape all foreign policy decisions around a commitment to combat the climate crisis, including willingness to use tariffs, other trade incentives and international finance rules to compel other nations to reduce carbon pollution.

That vision could involve butting heads with China, the world’s leading carbon polluter, and leading oil producers including Russia and Saudi Arabia. But Inslee said the crisis demands a tough approach.

….keeping the U.S. in the United Nations climate pact of 2015. (Trump has withdrawn the U.S. from the Paris agreement)

Inslee said the Paris standards are not enough.

He’d also have the U.S. join an international alliance that calls for phasing out coal plant pollution by 2030 and increase U.S financial commitments to alliances focused on climate action.

He frames the world’s growing migrant crisis as a part of a changing climate and an international economy anchored to fossil fuels, as extreme weather and other climate effects force people to migrate “in search of food, water, shelter, or to avoid conflict.”

He calls for focusing international development funds to building local economies in nations most affected by climate changes and economic instability.

Inslee praised China for its domestic efforts to reduce carbon pollution. But he notes that China’s “Belt and Road Initiative,” an infrastructure development effort that would expand trade and transportation routes across Asia to Europe and Africa, doesn’t involve the same commitments to reducing pollutants.

“It doesn’t solve the problem for China to do big investments in clean energy domestically, which they are doing … and then spoil that progress by building coal plants, dozens or hundreds, around the world.”

So 63 minutes with raindrops to the Rite Aid where due to a mixup my prescription can’t be filled. Then onwards on Bishop Blvd with a bit of graupel to the Birch & Barley for a running total of 94 minutes. Both Pro Malls have 3–4 vacancies while Just Buds is open again.

What’d I saw about Jay Inslee not being a favorite of the DNC?

The DNC does not represent my values! Disgusting!

My computer crashed on me again tonight and then there was the loud whirring of the fan. Uh, oh, I probably need new fans. When a fan speeds up like that it’s because it’s trying to cool things down. Pete can probably switch fans for me. Will talk to him about this.

In the meantime, I wrote down everything vital to me on this computer if the worst happens. Plus I emailed things to my XP and Bob’s computer, storage.

Bought a quart of wood stain yesterday and I used it today, got my long-planned project outside done. My deck guy power washed the wood for me, been planning to stain that wood for years but couldn’t get anyone to power wash them first. I mean, I HAVE a power washer, just needed Pete to operate it. He planned to but it just never turned out.

I also sprayed white enamel onto an outdoor dragonfly ornament. Needs painting, Pete told me to paint it white first so when I put the color on, those colors will really pop.

Then I mowed, but not down the drive, the robins that left the nest seem to be hanging out there in my brush piles. Better not call my tree people for the brush yet.

And just HOW does the DNC plan to “punish” candidates who debate/discuss the climate crisis at venues other than their “sanctioned” debates??

Excluding candidates from DNC forums if candidates debate the climate crisis elsewhere makes the DNC beyond redemption!
