For over 17 years, Moath al-Alwi has been held at Guantánamo Bay without charge. A Yemeni citizen, al-Alwi is one of Guantánamo’s “forever prisoners,” those whom the U.S. government has not charged with a crime but is unwilling to release. On June 10, the Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal in his case, the latest setback in al-Alwi’s long effort to obtain due process rights. Even though the court wouldn’t take al-Alwi up, Justice Stephen G. Breyer wrote that it would only be a matter of time before the court had to grapple with the forever prisoners and the scope of the government’s power to hold them.
The Supreme Court rejection — and Breyer’s comments — briefly brought al-Alwi’s case back to national attention. Little noted, however, were the eyebrow-raising assertions that the government has made in this case about its powers to indefinitely detain not just al-Alwi, but anyone — including U.S. citizens.

You can tell how little a corporate government cares about it’s citizens by the way it treats them, the non-citizens are treated even worse, just ask the little children in detention centers that have no hope of being reunited with their parents.
Strikingly similar to the oppression of groups under the Hitler regime. Today it is creeping fascist policy with Nazi overtones. Where are all the protests? Why is this not front page news? Why isn’t the trump regime unwilling to give up it’s Authoritarian ways? Why can’t trump be stopped?
Protests against pipelines are being restricted, being made ‘unlawful’.
Unless America gets off their collective asses and protests the current policy we will all be indentured serfs to the goon squad collective.

Dancing With Fools 
On the first day of summer, I woke up to this house being 63°. So tempted to turn the furnace on, but I just got going and had my coffee in the recliner under a blanket. It was 65° in here this morning.
Yesterday was Diane’s memorial. Pete, Sara, Nicholas, Jill and I drove to Lincoln Park where the funeral home was only 10 blocks from the street I grew up on. We came via I-94 to I-75 which turns immediately into Southfield Road in Allen Pk, next city over is Lincoln Pk. Turned right on Lafayette, 5 blocks down, left on Cleveland Ave and there was the house I grew up in, 3rd house from the corner off Lafayette. I was so happy to see it and drive down my old street, all my childhood memories flooding in. Just before the kids got here to pick me up I had put my old address into Google and for the first time pictures of the interior popped up! Sixteen pictures! I saved every one of them. I was shocked to see no one ever remodeled the tiny kitchen, it was the same only the floor was updated. BOY, was that house tiny. The dining room adjacent to the kitchen, it was amazing how many aunts and uncles could sit around the table on Thanksgivings. I’m going to round up pictures of inside the house and put them side by side with the real estate pictures.
Diane’s two kids were very happy to see me, Charlene cried her eyes out, Jeff’s were moist. Jeff had called me the day before and we had talked for almost 2 hours. When I left and hugged him, he said I was the only mother he had left. *sniff*
The trip there and back was wonderful, being with my kids and Sara and Nicholas. Lots of time to talk, the trip to Lincoln Pk being 1:30.
Jill’s bridal shower today, just a dinner at a restaurant with us, Brian’s parents and sister and family, Bob’s brother and sister and their spouses driving up to Lansing from Detroit and Ohio. Jill’s friend’s husband is paying for all of it. The men will sit in another room, we women together as in a shower. Poor Brian can’t be there, he’s in Virginia working. That’s a bummer, he could be getting to know our 2 relatives better in the men’s room.
I better finish changing the bed and get ready, have to be at Jill’s by 12:15.

Funny you should ask, Den! There’s a White Castle two blocks from my old house, and not far from the funeral home so Pete, Nick and a friend took a lunch break and drove over there. Pete asked me if I wanted any, I said no. I wasn’t hungry, and for sure didn’t want to have White Castle breath.
I remember when they built that White Castle. Going there for those little burgers was always a goal. One of my friends on the block and me scoured the local paper every week, hoping for a coupon. I think the coupon was 5 for a dollar. They were my favorite food back then, I loved them. My kids, being raise by Bob and I, loved them, too, and still do.
I forgot I have a recipe to make a pan of them on a cookie sheet in the oven. I should dig that out.

I’ve been through Pie Town, New Mexico. I know because I didn’t blink. One can actually have pie in Pie Town now but you have to make reservations well in advance; 3 weeks might be enough.

I mowed the place today when I got home from the shower. The sun was actually shining and it was pretty warm out. Everything looks beautiful, the green of summer is so lush due to all the rain we’ve had, and the cool days. Loved seeing the landscapes on the way to Detroit and back. So rich, and thriving. Michigan, on its way to having rain forests.

My charging problem is, as best as I can determine, the controller, not the charge current supplier. Also, it seems that the controller is in the mobile device, not the charger container. Assuming so, I took the unopened packaged charger back for a refund. The old, flakey stuff still creaks along and eventually actually recharges the battery.
