Weird Stuff Wednesday

A federal judge in Virginia has ruled that a salvage firm can retrieve the Marconi wireless telegraph machine that broadcast distress calls from the sinking Titanic.

The order is a big win for RMS Titanic, the court-recognized salvor, or steward, of artifacts from the doomed ocean liner.

The Titanic was traveling from England to New York when it struck an iceberg and sank in 1912, killing all but about 700 of the 2,208 passengers and crew.

RMS Titanic, which recently emerged from bankruptcy, has said it plans to exhibit the telegraph with stories of the men who tapped out distress calls to nearby ships “until seawater was literally lapping at their feet”.

    I don’t understand…

How does a US judge have authority to decide this?

The RMS Titanic was a British ship sunk in international waters.

I read someplace (at sometime) that the wrecked ship is protected by the UNESCO 2001 Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage.

    Okay…I looked for some validation…

Oh…it’s probably because the UNITED STATES didn’t sign on as one of the PARTIES to ratify.

Typical of this arrogant, woebegone nation.

Maybe we can totally alienate every country in the world if we keep it up?

Adding to the weirdness of the day a very odd pattern with the quakes.

I brought up the USGS site and for the heck of it scrolled the list on the left side clicking each one as I went and noticed an odd pattern of shaking alternating from one side of the road to the other with regularity. sometimes it would shake twice on one side but not often. there has to be a large fissure 5 miles down and 15 miles wide that is slipping maybe magma shifting, who knows I’m no scientist.

    Quite weird.

Lots of sun today, Carol mowed. The place looks great and I’m going out in a minute to take some pictures. The flowering crab Jill and Brian bought me last fall, and Brian planted for me, is leaved out AND has flowers on it, WOO HOO!

I was worried sick last night because of my head, hard time falling asleep, couldn’t wait to get up and swallow 6 Preds. Head still has the odd thing going on, but what the hell. I decided that was enough worrying, wasting my time. I got busy today, ignored any thoughts, deciding all I can do is let the cards fall where they may. Enjoy your day, Carol, while you still have such a beautiful day.

The new neighbor was mowing, so I planned on meeting him and when he was close enough to the ranch, I drove over and we shut down and introduced ourselves and talked quite awhile. He’s quite young. The woman that lives there is NOT a wife, a girlfriend. He said she’s only 22, have to wait to see if she works out, something like that, lol. He looked 22 to me, I should have asked him how old he was. I think they’ll work out ok as neighbors, but time will tell. They have a lot of friends and everyone is young. I will assume they are Trump people because rural people are ALWAYS republicans. I did NOT bring up politics, I didn’t want to spoil our relationship right out of the gate.
