Wise Up, Mask Up!

Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a member of President Donald Trump’s coronavirus task force team, gave a grim assessment of where things could be headed with regard to the total number of new cases of COVID-19 infections seen daily in the United States.

The country is “going in the wrong direction” in terms of controlling the spread of COVID-19, Fauci said, while testifying before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.

Fauci and other health experts were on Capitol Hill on Tuesday to offer their thoughts on reopening schools in the fall and other businesses that have not yet opened.

Vintage WWII Warbirds To Flyover The Palouse Saturday

    Evan Ellis News

A flight of vintage WWII warbirds will be flying over many communities around the Inland Northwest on Saturday.

Pilots with the Hangar 180 museum in Lewiston will be flying their legendary planes around the region. The flight will consist of a B-25 Mitchell bomber, a P-51 Mustang, a P-47 Thunderbolt, a P-40 Warhawk, and an F-7 Tigercat.

The flight will flyover many communities on the Palouse. The planes are scheduled to flyover Pullman-Moscow around 4:45 on Saturday.

The United States is an embarrassment around the world. We are a nation of selfish, self-indulgent, willfully ignorant imbeciles. Maybe we get what we deserve for being so ignorant and spiteful.

Yesterday, CANADA DAY, I got this from a friend, who is Canadian, but lives in Anacortes. She is a nurse who teaches at Western Washington University, also in British Columbia. She can cross the border as an essential worker, but also because she has elderly parents living in Abbottsford, BC, with health issues.

As of today, July 1, 2020:

Population of province of BC: 5,020,302
    Total # COVID cases: 2,916
    Total # deaths: 174
    vs.
    Population of WA State: 7,797,100
Total # of COVID cases: 34,595
    Total # deaths: 1,339

Canada and USA are northwest neighbors….

Vancouver is a dense city with large international airport with multiple flights daily directly from China in the early days of Covid19. In January, I worked in Richmond BC in Public Health (teaching Public Health to UBC Students at Richmond Public Health Dept) and saw many people walking the streets wearing masks, taking precautions before masks were even a thing. Masks work!😁

Talked to a guy in New Zealand a couple hours ago, and he ended by asking me a favor.

    “Do not vote for Trump!”

I told him I’d sooner shoot myself, and complimented him on their PM. The Kiwis are rather fond of her, and rightly so.

We are definitely going in the wrong direction here in WA State. (As other states are)

4th of July *celebrations* will fuel the hotspots.

Well…better late than never…Gov. Greg Abbott issued a statewide mask mandate for Texas today….effective tomorrow.

Another humid day here, had the A/C on before noon. Jill’s dogs, Addy & Quincy, hate the heat and are staying inside other than in than in the mornings when it’s cool out. Jill doesn’t have A/C but it’s cooler in her house than outside, apparently. She has a lot of trees, a lot of shade.

It has been deliciously COOL here in my neck of the woods, with overcast, occasional drizzle.

I’m glad. I wouldn’t mind if the entire summer is COOL, overcast, wet….I sooooooo do not want any wildfires, on top of everything else.

    ARIZONA, according to the AP….</M?

This is what every physician, nurse, front-line provider, public health official DID NOT WANT TO HAPPEN…it places an incredible burden on them..

Perhaps most chillingly, at the urging of doctors and advisers, {ARIZONA} officials this week activated “crisis standards of care” protocols, which determine for hospitals which patients get ventilators and care as the system becomes overwhelmed under the crush of patients.

“I think it’s pretty obvious that we are not going in the right direction,” Anthony S. Fauci, the country’s top infectious-disease expert, said during a YouTube live stream.
