Mexico’s president has said his country will not pay for White House hopeful Donald Trump’s proposed wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, and likened his “strident tone” to the ascent of dictators like Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.
President Enrique Pena Nieto’s comments, published in Monday’s Excelsior newspaper, were among the most critical public comments yet by a foreign leader of the New York billionaire.
Trump, front-runner to win the Republican Party presidential nomination for the Nov. 8 election, has sparked outrage in Mexico with his campaign vow to build a wall along the southern U.S. border to keep out illegal immigrants and drugs, and to make Mexico pay for it.
Asked by Excelsior whether there was a “scenario” under which Mexico would pay if Trump won the presidency, Pena Nieto was clear. “There is no scenario,” he said. “I have to say that I regret (the plan), and of course, I can’t agree with this American politician’s position.”
Trump, who has also aroused concern among many in his own party with his proposals, has accused Mexico of sending rapists and drug runners across the border and vowed to increase fees on some Mexican visas and all border crossing cards to help make Mexico pay for the wall.

I’ve been everywhere today. Left at 11:20, went to my township hall and voted for Bernie. I was voter #99. Of course, no line.
Then up to Okemos. Went into Office Max to look at office chairs. Didn’t buy on, no way to get it home. I’ll have to go back with the SUV, but at least I looked.
Then around the other side of the Meridian Mall and into J.C. Penney’s for clothes for Nicholas. His 6th birthday is March 22.
Then to Gordon Foods to stock up on frozen green beans and 3 big jars of pickled jalapeno peppers. I can’t stand to run out of them. Bought a bag of frozen boneless chicken breasts for Sara & Pete.
Also went into Toys R Us, bought a tyrannosaurus for Brian’s son. Part of his Christmas present. Ordered a dino book from Amazon this morning, that’s the main gift. The original book I ordered back in November, got nothing but the run around from the company. Obviously, they’re not going to restock that one so I cancelled it.
On the way home through Williamston, I stopped at Merindorf’s Meat Market. Got a variety of sausages and my usual #10 bag of hamburger.
Dropped everything off at home then headed south to Stockbridge, hit the library, gassed up the car and headed to Chelsea 20 miles south to drop off my recycling. Hit the video store on the way back through town and now I have spaghetti sauce simmering on the stove. That takes 3 to 4 hours. I NEVER get such a late start making it. Oh, well. At least I won’t have to do it tomorrow.
It got up to 72° today, was probably 50° overnight. By morning more ground was showing, all the places I couldn’t walk last night were almost totally clear. By this late in the day ALL the snow is gone.

Up to Banyans in a slow 40 minutes. Along the way I saw magpies also a large raptor sitting on top of a power pole. So large it must have been a female Swainsen’s hawk as other raptors rarely come to Pullman. Well above Lac du Puddle the WSU grounds crew constructed 3 small holding ponds over the winter. The Mallard pair was dabbling in the largest. Two light craft in landing pattern were followed by the medvac helicopter high above on the way to the hospital.

Oh yes. A school bus brought the higher school golf team up and when I caught up the 6 were walking to their first tee. No golf carts. Good for them.
