VIENNA—Nearly all of Austria’s 900 glaciers retreated last year amid record-setting heat, according to Austrian scientists. The rapid melting mirrors a trend across the Alps and underscores scientists’ warnings of accelerating, extreme climate impacts caused by human-caused greenhouse gas emissions.
Across the country, the glaciers retreated an average of 72 feet in 2015, more than twice the rate of the previous year, the Austrian Alpine Association said in its annual glacier survey. Three of the country’s glaciers retreated by more than 320 feet. The nonprofit association—which promotes mountain culture, research and conservation— has been conducting detailed glacier measurements since 1927, creating a dramatic record of climate change effects in the alpine region.
“The summer of 2015 was more than 2 degrees Celsius warmer than the long-term average,” said survey team coordinator Andrea Fischer, a glaciologist with the Austrian Academy of Sciences. “Long periods of high pressure and the absence summer snowfall…are the reasons for the glacial meltdown.”

Still feel like shit, nerve pain is the absolute worst, the whole left side of my head hurts with occasional and random nerve spikes like an ice pick stabbing, stabbing, my hair hurts.
This has been one miserable year of pain and suffering with two ER visits, a Gall Bladder-ectomy and now this shit. DAMMIT!! I cannot catch a break. I want to be happy in my new house but all attempts have been thwarted by the continuous body calamities.
Oh and don’t even get me started on the VA…

Hey, you don’t know if that’s what’s wrong with you. Did you have the MRI, or any other test? Do you have multiple sclerosis?
Over the years I’ll get a shooting pain up the side of my head. I’ve figured it out over the years, it emanates from my throat, one of my tonsils. It happens when my tongue works on one of my tonsils to dislodge something from behind a tonsil, or something jammed in a tonsil crater. Seems I bring it on myself, rather my tongue does.

The VA has already put me off two weeks now, no MRI, no nothing except antibiotics.

Yea if you like herding cats. Multiple medical mistakes so far.
Initial evaluation determined it to be an ear infection.
#1 – No one has determined that an actual infection exists, no tests.
#2 – Antibiotics prescribed despite item #1
#3 – When no improvement was noticed did they do #1? no.
#4 – Prescribe more of a different antibiotic with no improvement still.
#5 – Spent the last two weeks with excruciating head pain as a result.

I’m eating some Taco Salad I made. Haven’t made that in years and it’s so yummy. Bob even asked for seconds. It’s hard to get him to eat vegetables now but this salad went over well. I’ll have to make it again and not let 20 years go by.
Dreary day, rain of and on. LOTS of bird activity at my two feeders. Two rare rose-breasted grosbeaks were on the oiler feeder! And two Baltimore Orioles, also rare, were on the hummingbird feeder outside the kitchen window. For the record, no hummers have shown up yet.

From the doctors’ office across Stadium Way, up Valley Road and thence to Terre View Drive, over the top, down past the bears to Grimes Way was 62 minutes. One of the yearling bears was out, checking out the people watching the bears. Back west along Grimes Way to the university finally fetched me to the Hillside Cafe. Total was 96 minutes.
Having salmon cooked in a light, salty crust with couscous and multicolored cauliflowers.
