Totally Terrible Thursday

1a

Minnesota’s infamous winters are the absolute worst, the most miserable of anywhere in the U.S, according to the website thrillist.com — and that was before the worst of this week’s bone-chilling cold.

The website on Tuesday ranked every state on how bad its winters are. Hawaii was 50th, Minnesota was first.

The assessment was made by writer at large Kevin Alexander and senior editor Matt Lynch at the website that focuses on food, drink and travel.

The duo ranked Michigan winters second worst, North Dakota fourth (beating Alaska which was ranked third), South Dakota sixth and Wisconsin seventh worst.

Nick Kristof today was good enough that I sent the link to my dizzy dame representative recommending she read it. I’m going to try to reproduce the link here so you can do the same for your representative:

The real problem is with the “Insurance” requirement in the first place which has been my point since the ACA was started. Without purchasing ‘Insurance’ we are SOL.

I say fuck ‘Insurance’ companies and their racketeering because that is what it is extortion and racketeering, without their ‘protection’ you die, fuck them!

Number one, is cost control, some profit is better than nothing for BIG PHARMA who continues the same Pay-to-play bullshit the Insurance companies do.

Number two, is to include Medical Care into the Medicare system that we already pay into with our paychecks.

Number three, is to assign a tax to major corporations freeing them of the company health plans, It would be based on a percentage of the annual income of the company.

Number four, stop giving all our budget to the DOD for their Worldwide War Machine so we may be more able to afford health care for all.

Of course I expect none of this to happen with the current reckless disregard for others as I have seen from the latest collection of self-serving assholes in our government bent on scaring up ever more draconian measures, but I try nevertheless.

I don’t suppose that will go for Congress-critters, too. They all need to work for a dollar an hour.

Carol when parking your car for the night shut it off with the wipers running so they stop halfway across the windshield then flip the wipers out and put a piece of cardboard big enough to cover the windshield on the windshield and flip the wipers back down on the cardboard to hold it from getting blown off, then the next day reverse the order of assembly, flip up the wipers, remove the cardboard, replace the wipers and go. Might work for the back window too if it has a wiper.

Beats the hell out of scraping ice, an old Mineesoter trick.

My car lives in the garage, I was at the rehab place when the ice formed on my windshield. I pretty much haven’t had to clean one of our cars off in years. I don’t usually go out to a store, or anywhere when the weather is bad.

No way Michigan should be in the worst winter list. Maybe it gets bad along the coasts of the Great Lakes, not sure, but here in Mid-Michigan we are protected by the lakes. I’ve a friend in South Dakota, now that place is horrible compared to here. She is always posting about her weather on FB, it’s awful.

Had a go-around with my oldest and best friend over something political on FB, not with her that much, but one of her fly-by-night Farmville friends that she’s never met. Tonight my old friend made a few needling comments on a Trump article I posted.

I think our friendship is over, politics did it and I could give a shit. She’s always been my fun-loving friend, she knows nothing about politics, reads nothing but novels, she’s in no position to have opinions about Trump, or any other topic to do with current events, yet there she was, jumping in with all her ignorance. Big disappointment. She always called me her smart friend, guess she doesn’t believe that anymore, oh well. I tried to help her out with our current political climate, but you can’t fight city hall.
