Lost Freedom Saturday

Internet service providers like Comcast and Verizon may soon be free to block content, slow video-streaming services from rivals, and offer “fast lanes” to preferred partners. For a glimpse of how the internet experience may change, look at what broadband providers are doing under the existing “net neutrality” rules.

When AT&T customers access its DirecTV Now video-streaming service, the data doesn’t count against their plan’s data limits. Verizon, likewise, exempts its Go90 service from its customers’ data plans. T-Mobile allows multiple video and music streaming services to bypass its data limits, essentially allowing it to pick winners and losers in those categories.

Consumers will likely see more arrangements like these, granting or blocking access to specific content, if the Federal Communications Commission next month repeals Obama-era net neutrality rules that ban broadband providers from discriminating against lawful content providers. The commission outlined its proposed changes on Tuesday, and published them Wednesday. The proposal would also ban states from passing their own versions of the old rules. Because Republicans have a majority in the agency, the proposal will likely pass and take effect early next year.

Because many internet services for mobile devices include limits on data use, the changes will be visible there first. In one dramatic scenario, internet services would begin to resemble cable-TV packages, where subscriptions could be limited to a few dozen sites and services. Or, for big spenders, a few hundred. Fortunately, that’s not a likely scenario. Instead, expect a gradual shift towards subscriptions that provide unlimited access to certain preferred providers while charging extra for everything else.

Fascism can be complete only by restricting the information people receive.

Like a creeping disease, systemic breakdown of information places us all in jeopardy risking our freedom of speech. A full 30% of the USA is clueless leaving the door wide open for faulty influence. Just dandy for those of us aware of the damage crony Capitalism can bring, not a sight for the squeamish.

Let the money-suckers loose to fleece us of our hard earned funds just to keep up with the brutal reality foisted upon us by the greedy 1%. Without a free and unimpeded flow of information upon which to make judgement’s we are held captive in a sanitized environment of corporate control where we will be told how to think and what to believe is truth.

    The plot thickens…but, SSDD…

Robert Mueller is looking into former national security adviser Michael Flynn’s involvement in the production of a film about an exiled Turkish cleric.

Flynn’s consulting firm was tasked with producing the film last year and reportedly did not want anyone to know of its involvement in the project.

News of Mueller’s latest focus on Flynn comes on the heels of a Thursday New York Times report which indicated that Flynn’s team is negotiating or cooperating with Mueller’s team.

While Jill’s LR ceiling is 20 feet or more high, house is shaped like a barn with a hip roof. The xmas tree wasn’t 20 feet high. It was just way taller than any us can fit in our homes that have 8 foot ceilings.

Another day in paradise. Did some putzing around the house, washed clothes, putzed some more, ate something, and here I am. MSNBC is playing out in the LR, just so I don’t miss anything but it’s all rehashing of things I already know about. However, there are some contributers that I adore and I love to hear what they have to say. I’ll go running out there and back up their interviews.

One of the guys is Richard Painter. I’m a fan, and he’s a republican for the past 30 years. However, he’s not one of the brainwashed, he’s sick over our Congress and the putz in the White House. He can deliver, doesn’t mince words. He’s a lawyer who worked in Bush’s Justice department…I think.

I think I’ll got watch some TV after my internet rounds. I have 5 Aerial Americas piled up. I’m determined to see each state. I’m keeping a list of the ones I’ve watched so I don’t watch them a second time.

Yes, he was the ethics guy in the GWB Administration for a couple of years…

Even though Al Franken is vowing “no resignation”….time will tell…if he does resign within the next few months, Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton (D) will appoint someone to take his seat (Franken’s senate term isn’t up until the 2020 election cycle). The appointed senator would serve until the next scheduled election (Nov 2018), at which time there would be a special election to choose a successor.

If that happens, assuming he doesn’t have any skeletons rattling in his closet, I bet Richard Painter runs for U.S. Senator from Minnesota. He has lived in MN for about 10 years.

Long way out….but that’s my predicton.

Pushing hard, just 47 minutes to the Birch & Barley. Some sprinkles when I started soon ceased. I would take longer walks if I could manage to start earlier. Some of the best parts of the loop trail have no lighting and so are considered closed at dusk.

It was nice enough to ride the bike to Auburn for dinner then back up here. I am trying out a pair of high power LED spot lamps to see better at night, when I turn them on I cannot even see the bike headlight shine, lights up the woods on the side of the road to see any deer lurking.
Keep having to turn them on and off for oncoming traffic tho.
