Moon Update Monday

1a

A rare celestial event will grace the skies during the coming week when a blue moon and lunar eclipse combine with the moon being at its closest point to Earth, resulting in what is being called a “super blue blood moon”.

The trifecta will take place on 31 January and will be best visible from the western hemisphere. The last time the three elements combined at the same time was in 1866.

A “super blue blood moon” is the result of a blue moon – the second full moon in a calendar month – occurring at the same time as a super moon, when the moon is at perigee and about 14% brighter than usual, and a so-called blood moon – the moment during a lunar eclipse when the moon, in the Earth’s shadow, takes on a reddish tint.

Stargazers living in the US will be able to see the eclipse before sunrise on Wednesday, according to Nasa. For those in the Middle East, Asia, eastern Russia, Australia and New Zealand, the event will be visible during moonrise on the morning of 31 January.

Finally worked. This was done by foresters. It is well documented in England where trees were bent to form ship timber shapes.

Yesterday’s tree cutting montage was good, made me laugh a lot. But I think quite a few of those guys got hurt.

Dammit, it snowed today. I didn’t return two movies to the library, one of which was due today. I’ll get it there tomorrow and pay the fine.

Tomorrow is my appointment with the VA. At 1:00 p.m.

Jill hooked me up with her insurance agent, looks like he can save me some money on my car and house insurance. Bob would be happy about this. I wonder why he never used an agent. I like it that he will do the looking for me. Seems like the way to go.

I wonder if I’m catching something. My throat feels weird, like there’s dust in it. It makes me want to cough. Hope it’s not the horrible flu going around.

Swish your mouth with hydrogen peroxide (spit it out) and take some zinc tablets…. such as Cold-eze, or generic (store brand) equivalent. That has been my personal anti-cold, anti-flu preventative for decades, which I learned from my Cree grandmother, though this is not a traditional Cree remedy. Also, I keep my hands scrupulously clean and never touch my eyes, mouth, or nose after I’ve handled a gas pump, a grocery cart, or a door opener in a public rest room, etc.

I have not had a cold or flu since 1976.

PS A bonus, I have very white teeth. 😉

Hey, I’m with you there with a variation on the peroxide thing. I take a swig out of the bottle not swallowing, tilt my head back and let it fizz, if it fizzes a lot I do that 3 times and afterward rinse my mouth with water and a toothbrush. I brush and gargle every night anyhow that’s just my ‘feel a scratchy throat’ remedy, it works I don’t get sick either.

Speaking of flu, I went to the VA for a CT scan and the waiting room was packed, the only people I noticed with filter masks were the employees and me, I wore my motorcycle riding mask specific for petroleum based stuff but 99% effective, two straps and a blowout valve, heavy duty for the diesel soot and exhaust vapors, not to mention road dirt.

I’m not taking any chances with this especially virulent flu going around even though I got the shot.
