Oklahoman’s rang in the New Year with a reminder of a growing consequence of the drilling boom underway beneath the surface of their state.
Less than six hours after the stroke of midnight on Jan. 1, a magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck directly under the city of Edmond, jolting residents from sleep across the state and triggering an hour-long local power outage for nearly a half-million people.
The event came exactly 72 hours after a slightly larger magnitude 4.3 earthquake rocked the same town, representing the latest in hundreds of seismic events felt by Oklahomans since 2009, when oil and gas production increased in the state. State energy regulators and scientists say these quakes are likely caused by drillers’ injection of wastewater deep into wells nearby.

Brazilian Pit Vipers, their venom is harvested to use in blood pressure medicines, ACE Inhibitors. I take one of those; Lisinopril.
While short term it does reduce blood pressure just as the snakebite paralyzes it’s victims. However I could find no long term studies regarding usage over extended periods of time.
WIKI sez: Lisinopril was developed by Merck & Co., and is marketed worldwide as Prinivil or Tensopril, and by AstraZeneca as Zestril. In India, it is marketed by Micro Labs as Hipril. In the United States, a generic version is available. Like other ACE inhibitors, it is a synthetic functional and structural analog of a peptide derived from the venom of the jararaca, a Brazilian pit viper (Bothrops jararaca).[8] Lisinopril can also be used in conjunction with the diuretic hydrochlorothiazide, and drugs that combine these two medications are available under the brand names Prinzide and Zestoretic.
I have eliminated all the meds that cause muscle pain and weakness after long term use, Lisinopril is next.
I still have issues even after discontinuing other meds and hurt severely with bouts of non-pain, I suspect the generic drug manufacturers sloppy quality control, some doses being stronger than others, I hate generics, most are made offshore somewhere where the FDA cannot reach.

Amlod/benazp 2.5–10 cap dr.
Amlodine besylate–benazepr
which my doctor says is the smallest dose.
I purchased a home blood pressure monitor and take my reading just before bedtime. If you are inclined to do the same, I will be happy to post the make and model.
I attribute my needing the medz so infrequently to getting enough moderate exercise. I suspect my doctor agrees.

I take it your doctor has no idea of what you should do about your pain. Hence, you taking the bull by the horns to figure out your own health.
There was the usual, a mix-up with Bob’s pain pill, a Vicodin clone. I went to Mason to his doctor’s office to pick up the script yesterday. Because of the kind of drug it is, it has to be picked up in person with one’s driver’s license in their hand. I don’t understand why there is a stupid law decreeing that. Seems emailing the script to the drug store would be the safest conduit.
I took it to the drug store in Stockbridge, $25 clutched in my hand and they wanted to charge me almost $170. I dropped my head, *sigh* Always, ALWAYS something goes wrong at the pill counter.
Our formulary said Bob could have a 90 day supply after the first of the year of a dose they would no longer approve. Said it clearly in the book. When he called the insurance company, this was the story: yes, he could have a 90 day supply of the old dose after the 1st of the year, but it would be at full price. It did NOT say that in the damn book!
So, Bob called his doctor’s office and as usual, had to leave a message. Someone actually called and he explained that he needed a new script for a different dose because the old dose from this year wouldn’t be covered in 2016. She said she would have to talk to the doctor. I made sure Bob mentioned he only had 2 pills left.
Did they call back today? Of course not, and Bob is in agony, trying to live on Excedrin. He took 3 a few hours ago and it’s already wore off. 😦
They better call in the morning, tell me to pick up the script so I can get it all the way back to Stockbridge so poor Bob can get some relief. God, I had this stupid system of ours. I hate doctors and their offices, too. They hold your life and your pain in their hands and can’t call you back. Hell, they can’t even answer the phone anymore. Bob always has to leave a message and hope someone calls him back.

I got a phone call a little while ago, a poll! Yay! I love polls. At last, someone cares about what I think. That’s the way I see it.
It was mostly about our congressional representative, Mike Bishop, who will be running against Democrat Melissa Gilbert. She’s an ex movie star that I think played in Little House on the Prairie. I never watched the show, but I think that was the one she was in. Seems she lives here in Michigan, in Howell….a town to the east of us. Jill’s boyfriend lives in Howell. Anyway, I’m all for her because she’s the Dem, and not the puke.

Gilbert headed the Screen Actors Guild for years. She also does Hallmark movies…a friend of mine had a bit part in one a couple of years ago. Too sappy for my my taste.

She had some kind of tax trouble. She got with the IRS and it’s getting straightened out, payments maybe, not sure. Wasn’t interested enough to dig into the story, but republicans are. Oh, they’re making hay from her troubles, do you want your congressional representative to not be paying their taxes? Something like that. Makes me laugh, which rich guy DOES pay all his taxes. Her problem seemed like small peanuts to me.
