If I had their money I could burn mine!

In a persistent drizzle on 17 January, a group of protesters swathed in green ponchos unfurled tarps and sleeping bags on the sidewalk in front of Goldman Sachs’ high-rise building on the West Side highway in New York City. A few of them wore handmade swamp creature masks; others bore signs with the swamp creatures on them. A light-board sign declared the bank “Government Sachs”.

The protest was the beginning of a multi-day camp-out aiming to stay on the sidewalk outside the investment bank until the inauguration of Donald Trump, and to bring people affected by the bank’s policies to the doorstep of some of the world’s richest people – some of whom will belong to the Trump administration.

“It’s about highlighting the lie that was told to millions of people in this country, the lie that Trump was draining the swamp. If we really want the swamp to be drained, we have to do it ourselves and we’re doing it by going to Goldman Sachs,” says Nelini Stamp of the Working Families party.

Steven Mnuchin was called Mr Foreclosure. Do you want Mr Foreclosure to be secretary of the treasury?

As the crowd of about 100 people set up camp, the police erected barricades around them but mostly held off as the crowd moved from chanting “The swamp is getting deeper! The swamp is Goldman Sachs!” to a series of speak-outs from the crowd about the bank’s connection to payday lending, the economic crisis in Puerto Rico, foreclosures and more.

The swamp is getting deeper because a cess pool is flowing into it.

This limbic pain here continues however very slightly improved, morningtime is pain hell. Reasearch online has me tending to Hypothyroidism as the cause, I just have to verify with a blood test.

Sprung Bob from the rehab place today. He’s happy to be home, to watch a real TV with a DVR and no commercials, and to walk himself to the bathroom any time he wants. Of course, he still feels like crap but that’s emphysema, it never gets better, only worse.

I bought us a Junior Whopper on the way home and when he was settled, I heated it up, gave him some chips and a bottle of Ensure and he ate it all. Since all he did was lay in the bed over there, and napped off and on, not long after he was done eating he started to doze off in the chair. Next thing I knew he walked himself down the hall to the bed and took a nap.

They DID work with Bob at rehab. They came in twice a day, sometimes they took him to the gym, the last several days he wasn’t up to it and they just gave him a few exercises in his bed. They always took him to the john in a wheel chair, at home he is walking himself there with his 3 wheel walker. I don’t know why he didn’t sit in a chair most of the day at the rehab like he does at home, I knew he would be better off here because he wouldn’t lay in bed all day.

He just now left the john for the bed and isn’t doing well at all. I don’t think he’ll be able to take his clothes off and get under the covers. 😦 A visiting nurse will be here tomorrow, and a home care person. Not that they can help him.

A high stress day for him, needs a lot of good rest, food and occasional walkabout, hospitals take a week to get over, ugh.

I don’t know, Den. I think he’s getting close to the end judging by the sounds he makes, the breathing sounds. It’s awful, I hate hearing it. He’s fine if he doesn’t move, but one has to move. Maybe he does just need more moving around, which he’s done a lot of at home compared to the rehab. Maybe tomorrow will be better. He only got bad like he is right now a little while ago. Long day.

I think the Woman’s March in Washington is going to be BIG. I say that because my daughter-in-law and her sister are going, but I heard tonight the wife of one of Pete’s oldest friends who is also my friend, is going. Two other friends of Sara and Nancy are going, and in tiny Lansing, Michigan, that’s a lot of people for me to know of.

Pete and I are going to the Women’s March at the Lansing capitol Saturday afternoon. I know that 2 of my political friends are going to be there, hope I run into them. I’ve never met those two in person.
