The Democratic Party’s congressional leadership has just unveiled a new slogan — and set of policy proposals — to help the party prep for the 2018 midterm elections
The slogan — “A Better Deal” — has underwhelmed just about everyone outside of the Democratic Party’s congressional leadership. The actual policy piece has fared only a little bit better.
This policy piece includes three initial specific policy prescriptions, and all three arguably take “the side of working people,” the goal the Senate’s top Democrat, New York’s Chuck Schumer, has spelled out for the “Better Deal” effort. Average Americans would without question be better off if Congress made pharmaceuticals cheaper, expanded on-the-job training, and cracked down on corporate mergers that pad the pockets of investors and raise prices for everyone else.
Few Americans are going to oppose policies like these. But the release of the “Better Deal” seems to have few Americans up and cheering either. One media outlet has already dubbed the new policy set’s launch a “box-office dud.”

The die has been cast, we will be subject to the rule of corporate-fascists. Our Government has been hijacked by corporate interests, leaving us to figure there is still room for change, there is not.

I said it the other day…the Dems’ “Better Deal” is a dud. If the Dems think this corporate-friendly yammering is going to fool the masses, they are even more tone-deaf than I thought.

They’re not big shakers…but they are becoming more frequent…
In less than 28 hours, Oklahoma has had several earthquakes.
Starting on Tuesday night, five quakes struck the central OK, and extended into the early hours of Thursday as two more hit, according to the United States Geological Survey.
All of the earthquakes were between magnitude two and five and no significant damage was reported. However, the shaking is part of a troubling recent phenomenon — the disposal of wastewater from hydraulic fracturing. Fracking appears to spike the likelihood of earthquakes in OK.
Man and his folly…

“They quoted $660/day, with 2 weeks in advance! I said, “Well! THOSE angels aren’t coming to visit!” They didn’t do hourly. I didn’t know how long my sister’s process was going to be and I wanted to come back to Bellingham for a day or so, if possible.
So, I called another organization, forget the name…they wanted $845/day…with 2 weeks in advance!”
Per day? For one day? What if you only needed someone an hour a day, or a couple hours a day? You said they didn’t do hourly, well then, I guess they only work for the very rich.
Jill was over a little while ago and the three of us were sitting in the LR and Jill said she couldn’t believe how calm Bob was all the time. I mentioned the anxiety the nurses were always asking him about, Micki saying I shouldn’t bring up anxiety to him, but we both know Bob is one of the calmest people there is. I said if I had Bob’s disease I would be a basket case, I would be emotional, I would bawl my eyes out. When she asked Bob how he could take it so well he just shrugged his shoulders and said, what’s the use. What good would it do. Geez. I would know better but I would still freak out.

I’m glad things finally calmed down from crisis mode, those in house service companies are a total ripoff.
Mom paid $5700/mo for hospital rest home care, took all her money and her house then she died at 94.

I can’t believe how many mistakes I’m making lately. Various things, but stupid mistakes. My brain must be fuzzing over. Probably from lack of beer. I’ve been staying in the house, no more walks at dusk therefore no beers. 😦
Eating my salad right now at midnight. I’ve been faithful to putting kale in every salad along with the romaine and spinach. The kale if for my eyes, but I’m getting sick of the kale. I’ll keep it up, after all it’s like a prescription.

I’ve wanted to do handstands tonight with the news of Mueller and the grand jury. WOO HOO! I think it’s my doing because several times in the past week when I posted something on FB I ended it with, “COME ON, MUELLER! Hurry up!”
Can’t wait to shut down and park myself in front of MSNBC for a little while.

I’ll repost this tomorrow, but did any of you know of the Woody Guthrie song Old Man Trump? About the racist tendencies of Fred in his rental dealings. Seems Woody (and Arlo) lived in one of Fred’s buildings for years.
